Are the Mayweathers’ pushing the sport of boxing to the brink of collapse with their thug like demeanors?
Are the publicized comments given by the Mayweathers’ are just dumb moves just to facilitate their personal agenda?
Let’s Discuss!
Also, if people are watching the fights, I don't see how that's anything other than good.
I guess I just don't get how so many people can be "fans" of such a violent sport, yet be such pansies about such simple shit.
"Yeah, sure he's a good fighter... But outside the ring, he's a real meanie head"
Just because they are paying to see a guy lose doesn't necessarily mean that what Floyd does is good for the sport.
I never said it was good for the sport. I said it wasn't going to single handidly destroy boxing.
People are a bit too sensitive about anything Mayweather does. It's comical.
And you're entitled to think that.
I'm not saying casual fans will turn into hardcore fans. Maybe they'll do what they've been doing for year and years.... Remain casual fans. People have paid to see Mayweather lose for years now. No reason to believe it's going to stop now.

Dude, I think instead of turning casual fans to a hardcore fans it's going to go the other way around.

Or, it will continue to do what it's always done. Make people tune into Mayweather's fights, in hopes of seeing him beaten within an inch of his life.

The thug demeanor that the OP is referring to is becoming more and more apparent over the last several years, while it won't tear the sport apart persay, it will drive away casual fans and longtime boxing fans

I wouldn't call them scumbags, but I wouldn't call them a positive influence either.
Ok, how about if we call them douche bags you think it's more appropriate: :lol1: :fing02:
Most will disagree with you. De La Hoya-Mayweather was the biggest boxing event in terms of money generated. The HW division is pretty much on life support right now.
Very true
The Mayweathers are well respected by those in the know in boxing circles.
I don't think people in boxing circles really respect the mayweathers'. IMO
boxings will never be big unless there are HW's
thats the be all end all.

Go back watch every 24/7 Floyd was involved in and their opposition always says Floyd is a very smart fighter. And Mayweather Sr. would not have trained Chad Dawson, Oscar de la Hoya, and Ricky Hatton (more wide open than Randy Moss) if he wasn't respected. And Nacho and Marquez respects them.

Who gives a shit about Sr and Roger? They just supportin cast. Mr boat buyer has the talent to be gr8 for the sport, but it's pointless if he refuses to fight the right fights.
I'm not ready to hang him out to dry just yet. But in the event that he doesn't fight the winner of Pac/Cotto, I'm going to have a hard time finding something positive to say about him.

The Mayweather hate is kinda getting out of control. I'm starting to think it might be based on insecurity that he may actually do well and win against fighters you would rather see him lose to.
That's all it is. Every fight people say will be tough for him, he makes it look easy. Then they say, "we he was running or didn't fight anybody".
