I don't know if any of you have seen this movie with Mike Tyson, but it is a documentary on him. I really enjoyed watching this movie. I would recommend it to any boxing fan.
Trailer if anyone cares to see it. I don't think it has been out for to long.
Oh without a doubt if he came in to that fight in half decent shape Mcbride would have taken a nap.....he was just a shell the guy who fought Holyfield who was a shell of the great fighter I remember beating Berbick, Spinks and Tucker.....it is not out of the question at least in my mind that the very best version of him could have beaten any HW who ever laced them up.
And I completely agree.
Oh, and about that picture in my sig, if you watch that part of the movie, it is actually unbelieve he was that fast. I had to rewind that part of the movie, it looked almost fake. No wonder people were so terrified of him.
Just look at the version of him in your sig compared to 1996, he wasn't even that old by then and you can see a noticeable decline in comparison.
The saddest part of the movie was the post fight interview they showed in his last fight.
Yeah that was pretty depressing, that was truly the end of Mike. With some more training, and improvements to his stamina, Tyson would of beat Mcbride. I am not a very big fan of Mcbride either.
That fight should have happened in 91, it is one of those fights that is a huge loss to the boxing world....it would have been great and i think that version of Mike would have stopped Holyfield....he was just the total package back then and seemed at a younger age to have his head on straighter than in early adulthood....prison really damaged him psychologically I think.
Prison tends to do that to people. And yeah, 91, Tyson would of had a better chance. I think in 96 97, he was getting into drugs. Don't quote me on that.
When you consider where he came from, it is miraculous not only that he did the things he did in life but lived to be old enough to do them.
Also a thing that stands out in my mind is his thoughts on Holyfield 2. What was Holy's head doing down there so low? He was like 3.5 inches taller than Mike.
I know if a boxer had their head in my face like that, I would of got upset to. Not to the point where I would of bit off their ear, but I wouldn't of been impressed. Ontop of all this, it's not like Tyson was the same fighter he use to be. He didn't use that Peek A Boo technique that Cus taught him anymore, his defense lacked (in which Tyson use to have incredible defense), and he just didn't have the same mind set that he use to have. All he could think about was the knockout.
He had no one to properly guide him with no agenda after Cus past. Think about how young he was, still a kid really and had not developed the life skills needed to cope with everything he had from being a famous HW champion.
It is to bad so many people still bash Mike. It's ignorant, which is another reason I enjoyed this movie, because instead of seeing just the bad, you see the good to. Mike didn't exactly have a peachy life.
yeah, I really enjoyed this movie. It was very insightful. And I completely agree, mike has calmed down greatly. I wish he would of been like this before he fought Buster. I truly believe if he would of kept up with his training, or if Cus D'amato (Cus was always able to keep Mike straight) would of never passed away, Mike would of never been defeated by buster, evander, or lennox. But this is also my personal opinion.
