If Floyd clearly looks rusty and just off on fight night does it take away from Marquez's win?
I think it should be a two way street on this...if Floyd wins he gets credit but not FULL credit due to him fighting a smaller man at a weight he's never fought at...
And if Marquez wins he beats a great fighter although the guy hasn't seen any action in 2 years...
Only way I think I could consider giving full credit to either is if Marquez knocks Floyd out...
Your thoughts?
jmm would've beaten any version of mab.....barrera could'nt even win a round vs pac...jmm arguably beat pac...
joe is an excellent mental player.....he would've beaten prime roy jones and bhop....how could a feather fisted joe makes both powerful punchers think about sluggin it out with him....he beat them mentally then phisycally thats what makes him special.....
OMG...let me leave this thread before your ignorance rubs off on me...
I guess I can say Hector Camacho would beat any version of Ray Leonard...or Valuev would beat any version of Holyfield:lol1:
And I didn't kno Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe slugged it out:rofl::rofl:
My thoughts? You are a dumb ass.
Says the guy who makes the worst threads ever...
you put you accomp on you resume...dont you agree?....
overall,mab > macho camacho...
Did you decide to ignore the fact that Marquez didn't fight a prime Barrera?
Calzaghe beat a old ass Roy Jones...does that mean he'd beat him in is prime?
Marciano beat an old ass Joe Louis...does that mean he'd beat him in his prime?
how else would you rate a fighter but with his accomplishments?.....is camacho>mab?.....
Did you read what I posted? I said accomplishments and resume...
And the Barrera that Marquez fought is not better than prime Hector Camacho...your crazy
it a matter of opinions....if you base it on accomp, then its about equal...and if jmm beats floyd he overtakes him..... cas and barrera.....
You base it on accomplishments AND resume...for instance...Floyd is a 5 division champ. He did his thing from 130-140...after that his resume weakens.
And prime Camacho looks much better than past prime Barrera and 37 year old Casamayor...
And then you can throw Meldrick Taylor in there...
yep . but his best was in the late 80's and early 90's....people think he was past it in the hoya fights....again that is a matter of opinion......the way i see it,they both fought the best but if jmm pulls off an upset vs floyd,he overtakes jcc in greatness.....theyre about equal now...imo
It may be close if Marquez beats Floyd but it aint very close now:rofl:
What exactly is JMM's best win?
again, thats a matter of opinions....the best in jcc's time=the best in jmms time imo...theres no way of telling that the best in the 80's are better than the best in the 2000's without being biased....
Chavez didn't only fight in the 80's...and you base someone's status off the quality of their opponents...and in that category Chavez is higher...
If Juan Manuel Marquez beats floyd, he would do something not many people would expect him to and something nobody else has accomplished. If floyd lost to marquez because of rust, that's mayweather's fault, not marquez's...
and why not?.....jmm fought the the whos who in his div's.....hes a 3 div champ just like jcc....if he beats floyd you could almost consider it as his 4rt div title since floyd was the ww champ and is still undefeated, something jcc had not accomplished.......
Maybe cuz JCC beat better opponents?
Nice try kid. Already thinking of excuses huh?
JMM winning in anyway gives him full credit for the fact that he's making such a leap for this fight.
The 2 year layoff is a fact....I aint think of it just now...
And Marquez is going up as high as he wants...he doesn't have to weigh in at 144...
I think the rust may last a round maybe 2...but after that the fight begins...
Floyd never shows his true craft in the first round at the elite level...
Agreed, even when Floyd goes on to dominate, the first round or 2 are generally close in his fights (exception being Gatti, clearly)

Who ever wins deserves credit. The fight is almost on us they are preparing and come fight night i expect the best from both.
This would be similar to Oscar-Pac. Floyd picking on the smaller fighter. He loses, it's his own fault regardless. He's fighting a smaller man, their suppose to win.
6. Will Mayweather be rusty? Since turning pro in 1996, Mayweather has never had more than eight months off between fights -- until now. How will almost 21 months off (his last fight was against Hatton in December of 2007) effect a boxer who relies so much on reflexes and speed?
Mayweather and his team say the layoff was just what the doctor ordered. He insists that the time away from the ring and training camps gave his chronically sore hands and often-injured shoulders a chance to heal. You know what? I believe him.
I don’t think Mayweather will show too many signs of inactivity on Sept. 19 because I don’t believe he ever intended to stay retired. (He simply wanted to avoid the pressure of defending his welterweight crown against the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito winner and wait for the right opportunity to come back and make the most money with minimal risk). Thus, I don’t think he ever left the gym during his “retirement” or hiatus or whatever you want to call it (I call it a strategic withdraw), and reports I’ve received from his camp for Marquez support my hunch.
The trainer of one Mayweather’s current sparring partners recently emailed me with this gym report (sorry for the caps):
“FLOYD IS MORE THAN READY FOR MARQUEZ. HIS HAND SPEED, REFLEXES, CONDITIONING, TIMING AND RHYTHM ARE ALL THERE.
"MY FIGHTER TOLD ME THAT LAMONT PETERSON SHOWED UP AT FLOYD’S GYM TWO WEEKS AGO TRYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR HIMSELF. AFTER VERBALLY ABUSING EACH OTHER FOR 30 MINUTES WHILE PUTTING ON THEIR HANDWRAPS, THEY WENT EIGHT 4-MINUTE ROUNDS WITH 15 SECONDS REST, WHICH WAS A SPARRING SESSION WORTH PAYING FOR ACCORDING TO MY FIGHTER. AFTER EIGHT ROUNDS, LAMONT COULDN'T GO NO MORE BECAUSE OF FATIGUE. THAT’S WHEN FLOYD REALLY STARTED TAUNTING HIM SAYING TO HIM ‘ANOTHER ROUND, ANOTHER ROUND!’ WHEN LAMONT REFUSED TO GO ANOTHER ROUND, THAT’S WHEN THE VERBAL ABUSE WENT TO RECORD LEVELS IN THE MAYWEATHER CAMP. NAME CALLING AND VERBAL ABUSE CONTINUED TO BE DIRECTED AT LAMONT FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES.”
Nice to hear that Mayweather hasn’t lost his competitive edge.
And by the way, Floyd, I know you’re a secretive sort, but there’s no escape from my gym sources. (But hey, at least it’s positive news.)

Apparently he isn't rusty at all but I know that being sharp in the gym doesn't mean he's going to be sharp in the fight, then again being sharp in the gym against Lamont Peterson is a pretty good sign.
Anyways, even if he is rusty during the fight it shouldn't take anything away from JMM. Mayweather took the fight, he knows what he's getting himself into and JMM agreed to fight him almost 2 weight classes above his normal fighting weight so full credit should go to JMM if he wins.

Floyd isnt rusty did you see what he did to that sparring partner! He is a beast.
yes of course, the sparring partner! the one that they closed the doors and then had him reappear with blood all over his face. im really not buying it. im not saying that i think its fake blood or anything but if nothing funny going on, then show the dam sessioN!
JMM gets FULL credit regardless of 2yrs floyd layoff. i think jumping the 2 weight classes trumps the floyd layoff by far!. good question though TS!
