The first fight did 450K according to HBO so lets say Cotto beats Pacquiao and Cotto meets Margarito next year in New York for the rematch. How much would this fight do in terms of PPV buys? Would this rematch become the hotest ticket in boxing?
If Cotto has lost to Pac, won't be big cuz Cotto's luster takes a huge hit. If he's beaten Pac, controversy ended/revenge angle makes it big. I really hope they scrap again.
You can use alot of different angles for this one. Cotto getting revenge, Marg trying to prove he didn't cheat, Cotto trying to prove he did, Mexico vs Puerto Rico, etc. I think 800K is a good number. It'll be another entertaining war.
wait wait what?! cotto - clottey did 1.5 million buys!?!? margarito mosley 2 million?! what the **** i read the news everyday here i never heard anything like that.
u clearly dont read well if u got that from their back n forth.
No he didn't thats a lie. Margarito vs Mosley did over 2 million. Cotto vs CLottey did 1.5. If Cotto beats Pacquiao then yes they will do more, but if he lsoes then they will not. Also PPVs are carried from west coast purchasers.

There's no debate. HBO did not release them. Case closed.
True they didn't release them but all insiders said it did 450K. Pac-Hatton wasn't released eithier but all insiders know it did around 850K.
I think even if Cotto loses to Pac they should do it. How bout rolling out Tito vs DLH and Vargas vs Camach Jr on the undercard. Why Not? Be better than Yuri Foreman vs Daniel Santos.
HK,
HBO sends out an official press release when they release the numbers. We've all seen them. All I'm saying is that they did NOT release the numbers for either Marg-Migs or Pac-hatton. That is a fact.
I'm not saying that the 450K is inaccurate. I'm saying that the numbers are not "accoirding to HBO" as you put in your post.
And the link that you sent says that clearly: * Buys are general estimations from various sources, with me trying to stay as reputable as possible.
I don't know why your feelings are hurt.
ah
Nobody has any feelings hurt I just told believe what you want. I am not going to get in a debate if they did or not released PPV numbers.

HK,
You should know that HBO did not release Marg-Migs numbers, as I remembered. There was much discussion regarding that. Those numbers are not "according to HBO". Thanks.
ah
Believe what you want buddy.
You can search the official viewer numbers if you weren't so lazy. Only homos like you call soemone a hater for thinking the viewer rate will be about the same.
Look at this internet bad boy name calling.
• Which do you think gave HBO more bang for its buck: the May rematch between Chad Dawson and Antonio Tarver, which cost about $3.2 million, or last week's tremendous battle between Cotto and Clottey, which cost HBO about $2.65 million and tied for the network's best boxing rating of the year? Hey, at least HBO bought the fight. Showtime didn't even bother to make an offer. I'm just sayin'.

You don't think Cotto being in a 24/7 and beating Paquiao would help at least do much more than 450k? I think you are understimating Cotto drawing power, he tied HBO rating for a boxing event this year facing Clottey a guy not many people knew who he was and the whole Margarito suspension would come in to play also. So the drama will be there.

500k, the ones who buy it last time will also be the ones who will buy the rematch
How is that? I am pretty sure the ones who miss the first fight will probably buy the rematch.
