all this garbage about how you beat johnson and tarver and not jones himself i horses**t...you danced and moved more than sammy davis jr. ducking the hard questions...you asked the man on radio what would he accept, he told you and you still hung up the phone...
you know from history that these seniors tour fights are lucrative...srl/duran III made serious loot, so did srl/hearns II...if you really about the $, you would fight jones, shut jones mouth up and still make the fight with adamek or the winner of dawson/johnson, which we all know you probably are rooting for johnson...again, stop with the excuses...if ya scared say ya scared...
that is all
Roy faced a lot of GOOD opponents.
Hopkins was GOOD, Griiffin was GOOD, Toney was more than GOOD, Hill was GOOD, McCallughjkghkj was OLD but still GOOD and a top contender whooping butt, Harding was GOOD, Woods was GOOD, RUIZ was BORING but ROY made the fight very exciting, Tarver was GOOD and Roy beat him in their first fight.
So Reed....idk if you were being sarc, but who was Roy's first GOOD opponent that he lost to? other than the BS DQ loss to Griffin.
I can't believe you even replied with this post to me.
An excerpt from an interview at ********boxing:
HOPKINS: People want to me to go up to 190 pounds to fight "superman" and be basically a sacrificial lamb but these same people will do their best to keep Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Ricardo Mayorga among a few, away from me. Why don't these people want those guys to fight me?
Can you really see this guy fighting the likes of Adamek and Dawson? Adamek has tried to talk to Hopkins about a possible bout, but Hopkins wasn't interested. If Hopkins wanted to fight Dawson why not make him an offer before he agreed to fight Johnson? The fact that he was willing to make Pwill fight at 170 is not only embarrassing but its the same general rule with all his big fights, his opponents always have some sort of handicap walking into fights with him. When he agreed to move up from middleweight are you going to tell me it was only a coincidence out of all the possible opponents at sm and lhw that he chose a fighter that had to drop 45 lbs to make weight. He beats Tarver vacates the belts then starts fighter smaller opponents again.
Bernards ego is as big as Roys.
In no way shape or form... in BERNARDS HEAD... does he think Roy can beat him...
Bernard does not believe that.
If thats true then he should take the fight at 60/40. 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser....Seems like he doesn't want to do that though....even though he said he would make the fight if the money is right.....He wants 60 so if he thinks he can beat Roy why not take that deal?
not like hopkins is beating the absolute best either...lost to calzaghe
True! Let's not forget that Ol'Snaggletooth is really only known for beating 2 blown up WWs Goldie, Tito, most notable wins!!
Hops aint scared to fight Jones, he's just scared of what would happen if he happened to lose to him again. Especially in this state of Jones' career.
scared $ don't make no $....real talk
What a freaking coward hopkins is. Rather than fighting 40 year old Roy Jones who many believe is shot, Hopkins, who I remind you only picks on smaller guys, would rather fight 200 pound Adamek or 175 pound Champ in Dawson, while hopkins is 45 years old. What a giant pussy
Bernard made his career by fighting smaller guys at 160. Arguably his best fight is against Trinidad. A guy who he was much bigger than, and a guy Roy would have beaten in a round or two. Bernard fought smaller guys his whole career and Roy fought bigger guys his whole career. One guy went from 160 to heavy wieght and one guy stayed at 160 his whole career. Roy has done so much more than any other fighter in his generation.
he wasn't talking about dawson until dawson agreed to fight johnson...pull up some video that proves me wrong....
above that, its pretty neutral territory to say he wants the winner of dawson/johnson....
Bhop ain't scared of shit. He's likely lookin at his very last fight, and he's got every right to pick his spot. He's more relevant than RJ at this point. If it happens, gr8. If not, I won't be surprised.
Bernard Hopkins wouldn't risk fighting RJJ now. He wouldn't risk losing to him. A past prime Jones beating Hopkins would kill him. Jones is literally the worst opponent for Hopkins. That's why Bernard hung up the phone.
Myself, I think Jones would beat Hopkins even now. Bernard knows that if he signs to fight Jones and loses, he loses to Calzaghe and Jones on the same night.
Chad Dawson is 3x the challenge that Roy is now IMO.
Adamek is beatable IMO... tough but beatable.
I dont think bernard beats Dawson... I think he beats Adamek though.
yeah but giving his track record with equally sized, equally talented fighters is 1-4, he can legitly lose to jones, dawson, and adamek..his excuse making hoard will say he's too old if he loses to dawson and adamek, that's easy...its roy that is the problem, but roy is the one calling him out hard...
i aint gonna lie, i'd favour bhop to win against jones right now but hopkins first loss to jones haunts him and he's afraid he miht just lose against a shot roy jones and everyone would call him a bum
He aint afraid, he, like myself, doesn't see a point. This rematch is long overdue, they faught in 93.
Its not like Bernard didnt make an offer to Roy.
Its a money split they dont agree on.
Not because Bernard is shaking in his boots at the thought of Roy Jones...
who's jumping at the bit to agree to 60-40 in hopkins favor, plus a 25% tribute to oscar off the top...cat has a million and one excuses for not making a fight
anyways...
oh yeah he would rather face that slow, plodding adamek...and he still ain't said jack about dawson, just that he would face the winner of johnson/dawson...
plus he loses to adamek or dawson...you acting as the president of the excuse fan club will say he's old and the herd will follow...he loses to shotroy and you would run for cover...

He is so scarred he would rather face Dawson or Adamek instead.

yeah but he's never jumped at the bit to prove it when jones was prime and the general public is split even though they know jones is not the same honestly...
