There’s one thing that the always sincere Floyd Mayweather can’t fake and that is acting.
If you didn’t know it before, you know it now if you saw Pretty Broke as he guested Monday Night Raw, the special Mr. McMahon turns age 64 in Las Vegas version, last night.
I found the skits enjoyable to a point but Mayweather’s mugging leaves a lot of be desired. Apparently he only has three faces: the bodacious braggart face, the mad as hell visage and the totally confused, hey where am I face.
You saw all three as Mayweather was sprinkled all over the USA network’s popular grunt and groan show.
His acting range is limited to put it kindly.
But I will admit Mayweather’s boasting and roasting did whet my appetite for one thing and that is his guaranteed to happen super bout against Manny Pacquiao next year.
Rarely has scripted wrestling ever had such a hero-villain match up as delicious as black hatted Floyd versus good guy Manny.
As a White Gorilla, I am permitted to make monkey references without anyone implying a racial angle or insult so I guess I can say that only two monkeys, Mayweather and Miguel Cotto, can throw a wrench into the mega fight.
But they won’t according to my crystal meth balls.
Herewith then the Reasons That Guarantee Mayweather fights Pacquiao in 2010:
1. AGE. It will be Bob Arum’s last chance to be a ringmaster before he turns 80. How many huge promotions can you recall where a promoter was an octogenarian. Actuarial tables will come into play for Arum making him more keen on doing the biggest money fight possible then rather than later.
2. HEALTH. Coach Freddie Roach wants Mayweather for Pacman so bad he can taste it. He’s more than financially comfortable but, with his health issues and the fact that Manny doesn’t plan to be still fighting four or five years from now, I see Roach helping close this huge deal. There’s enough Fabulous Moolah (my tribute to the lady wrestling legend) for everybody.
3. EGO. There’s a reason that Manny Pacquiao was not mentioned a single, solitary time in the WWE’s well honed script for Monday Night Raw. No one wanted to upset the tender ego of the guest host. So Marquez was mentioned and they went with the phony baloney line about PBF still being the world’s best fighter. Pro wrestling is, after all, the Land of Make Believe.
4. HBO JUICE. This is the prime cable network’s Lollapalooza. It’s a boxing Woodstock with an international flavor, 12 weeks of hype and hoopla hopefully capped by 12 rounds of ring drama. HBO will nudge negotiating parties to the finish line if need be.
5. FLOYD’S DESPERATION. While Packy could keep earning big purses even against the low key likes of Edwin Valero, Mayweather needs to swallow his pride and realize that, while he may not the B” side here, he and Pacman are on equal footing in terms of stature. I hardly think that Mayweather will jump up one day and shout, “Hell with Manny, bring me the head of Sugar Shane Mosley.” Floyd wants no parts of His Sugarship clearly. He fears losing to Shane but has convinced himself that he can dominate Pacquiao.
Those are the major reasons The Big One will drop in 2010.
Bet me?
Floyd will take 50-50. He only says he will not for negotiation purposes. At this point he doesn't deserve 50-50 and he knows that. So he says he will not accept nothing less then the bigger percentage right off the bat, so that 50-50 doesn't sound so out of the question. If they end up agreeing to 50-50then Floyd got the better deal without Manny and Arum knowing it. Pac would be the draw in this fight, not Floyd. Thats how I think it will go down anyway. One thing I know about negotiating is that it's always better to know you won, but to have the other side think that they won.
He lost all credibility when he claimed that floyd fears Shane, Shane has only ever called out Floyd when Floyd has a fight lined up
When both were free Shane wanted nothing to do with a stylistic nightmare on more than one occasion
I'll list one reason why Floyd - Pac will happen..MONEY.. its what they are fighting for at this stage of their careers
No truer words ever spoken.
Pac/floyd won't happen because floyd won't go for 50/50.
Floyd wants to his company to be lead promoter, but his company is amatuerish, that's why he signed a deal w/ gbp.
What floyd really wants is 50% for himself, and 50% to be split up between mayweather promotions, gbp, top rank, and pacqiuao. If floyd is working on that paradigm, the fight aint happening.
Cotto just might shit on this fight. And if Pac wins, his status elevates that much more. Arum will push for Pac gettin a bigger cut, or at the very least 50-50. Mr boat buyer will refuse. Should Pac legitimize himself at WW by beatin Cotto, I'm down for this fight. But I got a feelin it ain't happenin.
