In boxing history?
I have never seen this happen.
This is probably a bad example in a way but it speaks to what I am talking about.
In the Bradley vs Campbell fight when asked about the butt/stoppage he really didnt want to mention it even when shown the replay he looked to his promoters like what should I say? This after thanking Jesus for the win.
I expected him to say yes we butted accidentally but I was winning the fight so I dont think it would have mattered but yes the butt lead to the end. And theres no point in a rematch since I clearly dominated him.
It just speaks to the way boxing is today with publicists, promoters I guess..
tyson after he ko'd ruddock said the fight shouldnt have been stopped and gave him a rematch....i dont think anyone else had any guts to admit as so, especially after ruddock was rockin him in the previous round....
Not taking anything away from Tyson because I'm his biggest fan, but he didn't say that. He said Richard Steel was his peer and that he can't judge him on the decision. He did say he'd love to give Ruddock a rematch.
I think Mosley said he thought the fight was a tie in the 2nd dlh fight
No, DLH says Mosley said that to him, but Mosley acted like he won in the post-fight interview.
I vaguely remember DLH admitting he was lucky against Sturm right after the scorecards came through. Not 100% sure about that, though.
No way... He said that everything went wrong, but he still thought he won the fight.
I do remember Taylor being really classy after he got KO'd by Pavlik, saying that he didn't agree with the judges and he thought he was losing the fight when it was stopped.
Freddie Roach said Bobby Pacquiao lost to Carlos Hernandez right after the fight. But a couple of weeks later he said he saw the tape and Bobby deserved it.
The worst example has to be Casamayor celebrating after getting the nod against Santa Cruz, there was no shame in his game after that horrible highway robbery. When Holyfield clearly got the gift draw against Lennox he was just saying "If the judges score it a draw it's a draw" he did bitch about getting the short end against Valuev though.
i don't think that's ever happened. not right away in the post fight interview, anyway. although it's an honorable thing to do, i think it's a bad career move because not only are you admitting a loss, you're also making new enemies by calling out the judges. the boxer is really backed into a corner in this situation so the best thing to do is not admit victory or defeat and accept a possible rematch when asked.
Thats a good point.

Nah, I can't blame them either... its there pride at the end of the day.
Not immediately after the fight but I know Sugar Ray Leonard said years later he thinks Hearns beat him in their rematch.
True...he said Hearns won the rematch...
I give Leonard credit...no1 is gonna say they lost right then and there
Tyson also said the Holmes he beat wasn't the prime Larry Holmes after the fight...said he stood no chance if it was Holmes at his best

Most just limit themselves to not talkin shit when they get a decision that ain't right. Off the top of my head I don't recall any fighter admittin it was flat out wrong, tho it may have happened at some point.
