Is Juan Diaz a washed up fighter?

No, just not as good as I thought he would be. Still alot of fights I liked to see him in.

There aren't many great prime boxers anywhere, let alone at 135. Except for Guzman, Funeka, and Valero, Diaz would put it on most/all of them. Diaz isn't great, but he's very good. that's the 1% that he's talking about, and these are the guys that probably beat diaz.

I consider getting outboxed as being more competitive than being brutally knocked out. That is my opinion. Wasn't the prevailing theory on here that Pac beat Oscar and Ricky "more impressively" than Floyd did? Why is that? Hell, many people feel that Juarez won that first MAB fight. Juarez didn't just get outboxed, he got outclassed throughout the entire fight and barely won a couple rounds. The rounds and fight lacked competitiveness. Diaz wasn't getting outclassed and the rounds and fight were more competitive although the end result was worse. To each his own though. Those aren't my theories either.

I don't think Diaz is washed up or even near it. He and Pauli just had a clash of styles and Pauli fought one heck of a fight. Cudos to both of them for giving us a very entertaining fight. The scoring was shitty, but the fight itself was fun.

Diaz won more rounds in 8 rounds against JMM than Juarez did in 12 and the second Barrera fight wasn't real competitive at all. Marquez-Diaz is leading candidate for FOTY and it's not because of lack of competitiveness.

That was the best Pauli I have seen in a long time. He had his game together last night. He had a victory stolen from him but he redeemed himself to everyone watching. That counts more than anything. He looked great last nght.

I think you guys don't give Paulie enough credit. I know he has looked really bad in the recent past but it's been mostly due to the hand injuries. a two handed malignaggi is a good fighter, watch the miguel cotto fight and you'll find out. Paulie is no joke. He broke his hand in that fight too and I had it 115-112 for Cotto.

no he actually was a uniified champion wba wbo and ibf i wouldnt call that a gatekeeper. he just wasnt as good as advertised like I said: contender/gatekeeper. diaz is a collector. he will probably collect more belts, but against the elite he will always fail (ie. contender) and anyone who beats him can be considered elite (ie. gatekeeper) .

yeah hes a great fighter to watch for sure. what i love about juan diaz is that he throws punches in combinations and never stops the one gripe i have with him is that he throws arm punches and that might explain the lack of pop. i think at 130 his power would be more of a factor in fights. It probably does explain some of it, but even when he puts something behind it it looks like it should hurt his opponent way more than it does. With that body he looks like he should be able to make 130 but IDK.
