Was this really a sign that SSM is back or was it just a good night against an overrated fighter tailor made for him? I guess RJJ is in a similar position after his exciting performance vs Lacy.
Is that why SSM is so desperate to get a big payday with Floyd or Pac? Is it because he knows that he could look poor in his next outing and end up losing that potential big payday?
TBH I'd think the fight vs Pac/Floyd being on the line would motivate SSM to pull out his best against his next opponent but he's seemed all too desperate to only fight one of these guys.
Opinions...
Words can describe how stupid this post really is. If SSM win over Margarito is smoke and mirrors, then i guess the entire concept of pro boxing is smoke and mirrors.
It is disgraceful how someone always finds a way to discredit someone no matter what. This garbage about being tailor made is just that garbage. It has no merit in terms of winning and losing (That is all that matters, and money of course but that usually goes hand in hand).
And as far as triangle theory save it. Margarito could beat Cotto again, and Cotto could beat Shane, and Shane could beat Margarito. It's about styles but like i said that has no merit in terms winning and losing. If a guy beats you because he's a bad match up for you well tough luck. You either find a way to win or you lose with no excuses.
As far as this plaster crap please show undeniable evidence and no hearsay, and then i will agree. Until then it's gossip that doesn't deserve any recognition.
How did Cotto prove that he is better than Mosley when he couldn't even out land him in punches when he got the narrow victory over him, and Mosley brutally destroyed the guy who has Cotto's number? People just see what they want to see I guess. Imagine what would've happened to Cotto if he had to fight a prime Mosley.
Cotto beat Mosley.
The Margarito triangle theory throws a spanner in the works but at the end of the day it doesn't undo the fact that Cotto beat Shane.
Of course prime Mosley beats Cotto, but I'm not talking about prime-for-prime, I'm talking right now

are u kidding? margo was just coming off the cotto win.

no ssm deserves a big payday

mosley needed to cash in on that win. cause beating berto ain't as big as beating margo.

like I said, mosley deserves to cash in on the margo win.
Career wise,Mosley is head & shoulders above Cotto, but as of right now,Cotto should have the legs & youth advantage!!If Cotto fought a prime Mosley, that would be all she wrote for him!!
Roy beating Lacy, cannot be compared to Mosley-Margarito,because Margarito was the top welterweight & heavily favored to steamroll Mosley!!There was some steamrolling in that fight unfortunately for Margarito,he was the pavement!!Lacy,on the other hand wasn't on top of anything!!:boxing:
co-signed.
It will be easier to judge after he fights sayyy clottey... I think ssm would beat berto with ease and clottey would be a much tougher fight for him.. plus we can compare it to cottos fight against clottey...
I see the reverse. I think Sugar Shane would look great against Clottey. I see nothing special in Clottey. Cotto fought like ass in their last fight. He made Clottey look much better than he truly is. Shane should take that fight, if for no other reason than to (further) show his superiority over Cotto.
I think Berto presents a much more difficult fight for Shane. Unless his chin fails him, I could see Berto giving Shane a very difficult fight. Can't see him beating Shane by KO ever, but I could definitely imagine him taking a close, competitive decision.

half and half imo
mosley is not his old self and he's not better than cotto

Didn't Shane say he don't wanna rematch Cotto at the mo? Something to do with money I think.
People always talk about what Shane said, but forget what Arum said. Shane said he would love to fight a rematch with Cotto in Vegas or LA. Bob Arum went on to say that that a fight with Cotto and Mosley can wait, because Shane would want at least 50%. The article is on here.
Also after the Margo fight. When the promoters were talking at the post conference. Shane said he wanted Floyd, Cotto, and the Pac vs Hatton winner. Arum said he still wanted Cotto vs Margo in June. Plus he even said I want Mosley vs Clottey, so the winner can meet. That video was on youtube, but HBO took it down.
As for the Williams vs Mosley. That was Lampley saying that shit after Mosley vs Margo. Merchant said he wanted to see Floyd vs Mosley during the Pac vs Hatton fight.
Shane never went anywhere. Your talking about a man with a 46-5 record. My boy Vernon Forrest dominated him twice. And then Ronald Winky Wright got him twice. Most recent loss was to Cotto. Shane is still a great fighter. He looked real good against Margarito. I hope to see him fight soon.
Is it unreasonable for Shane to feel that he was the number 1 WW after that win? Cotto lost to the man Shane beat him badly, I rememeber shane wanting Cotto again at Staples first anyway. Why would he bother with Berto who clearly doesn't want any real elite fights? he wanted what anyone at WW wants Mayweather , Cotto and later Pac. Clottey would have made sense had he got the W but he didn't so why does Shane an ATG have to be expected to take lesser fights after beating the nuber 1 WW. Then after Cotto's fight Pac goes after him like he's the best WW and Shane gets nothing, it's bullshit. Cotto should have fought the rematch if he was serious about being a WW, cause he don't even want to put his title on the line with Pac. Cotto fans want Shane to fight Clottey cause if Cotto lose to pac and shane beats Clottey than can demand a rematch then, I say **** all that if cotto loses let him fight on espn or force him to rematch margorito and shane can go after floyd. That seems far fetched but floyd Vs shane is way more likely being that Top rank will not give either a fight with pac anyway.
You clearly misinterpreted my post. SSM had every right to challenge Mr boat buyer, but he shoulda known damn well dude wasn't gonna fight him. And to hell wit lil Pac. He's a JWW. I don't think Cotto or SSM are ever gettin Mr boat buyer, so they shoulda rematched for a new lineal title instead of sweatin lil Pac. Only option he got is Berto or Clottey, and I'd like Clottey more, but Berto is the easier fight. He's just bein stubborn.

He said he wouldn't rematch him at MSG.
Obviously he doesn't wanna be at the wrong end of another close fight.

I think he would take a rematch with Cotto in a heart beat.
Alright, the reason i think Sugar woulda beat Mayorga inside 6 rounds at 147 is because sugar is alot faster and stronger at that weight. To me he looked slow at 154.
Inside 6?
Serisouly doubt it.
Mayorga had serious power at 147 and altough he threw wild shots he had very good speed t oland those wild swings and his defense was a lot better. He had a lot mor ebetter lateral movement,he could take a punch better and he cut the ring perfectly.
He was a beast at 147.IMO if he beats him Mosley beats him by decision at 147.
Yes at 147.
Took Six Heads Lewis's 0 first, then took Vernon's 0 and beat him in the very close rematch too.
Close fight which I think he was robbed with Spinks immediately after at 147 too.
IMO his prime ended when Trinidad beat him.
