Why does everyone act like Bernard lost because he was green? It was Roy's first title fight he was just as green.
nardo's fans know they were both fairly equal...they just need a good excuse to distract from the reality that their boy lost...
mention that he won about 20 fights before jones and hadn't lost in what ten years after jones and that shuts em up every time...

Look at Roy Jones' fights at that time and compare them to Hopkins's.
Roy was more closer to his prime than Hopkins was.
Hopkins looks very, very crude in his early professional bouts compared to the Hopkins of 1997-2001 or even now. He had amateur experience and had fought for a while in the professionals but Roy was his first opponent that was truly any good.
Jones may not have been as polished or at his very best but he could have probably been a world champ by the time he fought in the Olympics.
It's very telling that Hopkins was ranked up there along with the likes of Vinny Pazienza at that time. Of course he went onto become much greater than that.
I know I may be biased, but I think that Bernard should rank over Roy in greatness despite the head-to-head match up. To me, the prime of a fighter's career is only one aspect of it. It's the longevity. That is more important than a prime because you hear about the old time fighters getting accomplishments when they were older.
You speak about longevity, and being that Bernard is in his early-mid 40s and still on top you think that's longevity compared to Roy... Where Roy started his pro career at an EARLIER age than Bernard.
Bernards PRIME and LEGACY consists of his early 30's through his early 40's.
Roys PRIME and LEGACY consists of his early 20's through his early 30's.
Just because one is older does not make his longevity in his career greater... they are quite comparable.
And to speak of Roys amateur career, and about 5 more pro fights, his body has endured a lot more physical abuse through training from all of those fights.. where Bernards body didn't have to go through as much even though he was older.
Bernards body is fresher even though he is older in boxing terms.
I see Jones having a close round int he 10, and losing the 11th. Please tell me where the beating up happs, or happened in that fight?
hopkins landed cleaner harder shots throughout but jones dicatated withhis speed Jones couldnt do shit against Hopkins and almost no one could have caught up to jones at that stage.

Bait thread. Roy had never been past 10 and faded late. Lucky for him he had a good enough lead by then to still win the fight. Neither guy was prime, though Roy had the better amateur experience. Very good learning fight for both fighters.
.
Sorry homie, thought I would play along.
Replaced with some Jones highlights. These fools lucky a cool cat like you supports Roy.
