think about what i said. his body has had time to rest and he hasnt taken punishment for 2 years.
doyou honestly think he has been out of the gym the whole time? hes a gym rat.
do you honestly think this wasnt the plan from the begining to let the sport miss him and get rest at the same time?
think about what i saying in my post
I hear he has a full gym on his yacht
IMO, Mayweather's prime, both mental and physical, is at SFW and LW. But because he is such a cerebral fighter, he still get the wins though physically he may be past it but not that much. Will get a better indication after the Marquez fight. Marquez might be old in years but IMO jmm is prime now. It's because jmm has less boxing scars than pbf or pac or even mab and morales.
Floyds back, shoulders, hands and elbows were giving him trouble toward the end and he needed constant therapy before fights so the rest may have allowed him to rest those injuries.
We will have to see if he is past prime but you would think that someone as boxing focused as he is would be at less of a risk to ring rust as those who don't bother staying in shape or doing any training while off.
i voted to 'tell after the jmm fight' but actually that'll only tell us wether he just got beat by the better man or wether he's got ring rust. i think he's too young to be past his prime and has never really been in a war (until Sept 19th).
so no, he's not past his prime.
Yes he is past his prime, the injuries he's been dealing throughout the years is finally catching up to him. He wasn't that impressive against Hatton and DLH, wasn't the Mayweather I used to seeing becaue of the injuries. I just hope he's able to heal his injuries and get back to form like he was against Gatti.
But he didnt need rest he never had a war
Focus, hunger and likely his hands. I think people overlook that but if I remember things correctly weekly he had to have physio therapy for his hands.
I think he is past his physical best, but I think his knowledge gained/guile still more then makes up for it at this point and I think he will be able to hang on for a long time given his style/in-ring smarts and lack of beatings and be somewhat close to his best but fairly soon I think we will start to see some decline.
This is what I wanted to say but couldn't put in words.
I think the rest actually did more good than harm. Like a Mid career pit stop, change tired, oil the engine. Ready to go 50 more laps.
But he didnt need rest he never had a war
I agree but at the same time it seems unfair to Marquez,if he wins, to blame FLoyd being past his prime.
That is what you get when you fight a guy comming off a 2 year layoff, JMM knows this is his best chance to beat Floyd. So if JMM knows this he understands that people will bring it up if he wins but JMM will still get a ton of praise.
It is all a means to an end.
We will find ot during the fight with Marquez.
Certainly can't say now.
