You know who you are...
Physically, other than the hand speed, Bernard has all the tools to KO Roy right now inside 7.
- Bernard hits hard enough to make Jones shy
- A master counter puncher
- Can tactically take advantage of any flaws he sees of you on tape.
- Made a slightly past prime Calzaghe look like dog shit offensively.
- Even with fast hands, Bernard is hard as heck to hit.
- Stamina is not a factor here
Maybe but back in the day Roy basically shut Hop out.
It was a very one-sided affair.
They are both over 40 so I am not too interested in this one.
It would be pretty boring most likely.
Shut Hop out? Wtf? It was 116-112.
Jones has no legs, none whatsoever. I mean getting trapped on the ropes almost all fight long against Hanshaw, Shieka, and Lacy. Roy has no angles either, and very limited headmovement. Handspeed alone will not do anything, and even Calzaghe who isn't the most defensive fighter was slipping Jones' shots as if he was Whitaker. Hopkins stops Jones imo, you do not have to be a volume puncher to do so either, look at Tarver.
Fool me once...
I'm never falling for it again. Roy's first come back trail had me thinking he was holding back in the power department and that he had an entire 2nd speed gear on ice the way he plays around so much.
He gets in there against Joe, and by round 6 it hits me that mofo wasn't playing. Looking back, I can't even give him the KD. The euros on here are right, that was all forearm by Roy (I can't say it was on purpose though) and Joe did take all of Roy's legit punches.
Bernard is not good against speedy fighters, that's all Roy has left, hand speed. Roy decisions Hopkins right now. Especially since he's been more active(3 fights this year with Green being the 3rd one) and Hopkins' last fight was in October 2008.
Activity counts, and believe it or not right now Jones beats Hopkins because he's just more active from beating on 2nd and 3rd tier opponents while Hopkins is a little gassed up from beating an overrated Ghost who is living up to his name now by not letting himself be seen in the ring.
At this age(44), no matter who you are, inactivity is def a factor and will cause ring rust to any fighter.
at this point, bernard struggles against "active" fighters...which is why i wouldn't want to see him against dawson or pw.......roy is not active enough, has a glass jaw, and is scared to get hit.....hopkins beats the shit outta dude.....
its amazing what watching roy beat on lacy's bum ass does to people's senses....
Jones getting knocked out or stopped would be a shock but I'd bet anything he loses to Bernard...
I don't see how ya'll think Roy would win...Bernard wudda stopped Lacy in 5-7...
Got sucked in watching Roy beat on Lacy huh??
So Roy beats Hopkins just with hand speed? SMH
The man has nothing else. No defense. No angles. No legs. And he said Calzaghe was hitting him hard. You know, the same guy Nard said hit like his sister power wise. The same guy Hop looked like he just had a shower instead of having been in a fight.
Roy's a sitting duck against Nard. He can't even keep that fight in the middle of the ring if Hop chooses.
cosign.....
I honestly don't know. Roy looked really good against a bad fighter, Bernard however is getting older all the time and is very inactive. If i were to bet i would put my money on Bernard but i'd be rooting for Jones.

in order to beat roy you need to be very active which is not bernards thing! i just think roy is all wrong for bernard even at this point. i like roy on points!
I wouldn't say inside 7 but I think a UD for Hopkins. Still be interested to see a rematch though!
I'll maybe concede there not being a KO victory, this would all depend how press confs went. If Roy got too carried away, there would be animosity in the ring.
I don't think Bernard would go out of his way to try and put Roy out unless provoked.
