Everyone always seem to be "easily beating Nog" in the 1st He had Vera dead to rights with two broken hands, but just smothers him. I'll give him the KO of AA to him but does nothing but smothers like a dumb asshole while AA chokes. Ricco was nothing Monson was another smothering even the GnP was there for the taking. Instead he drags the match like a dumb ****. Sure. Many fights do go to a dec. and there are many exciting grinders in MMA, but even grinders know when to finish a fight or not. Just saying he is better than you make him out to be, not just some bum. He was still a top HW when he fought Ray Mercer. Just because he's boring as hell and uses his size to win, doesn't mean he's not in the top 10.

Tim Sylvia was actually a pretty good MMA HW, he was easily beating Nog, he has beaten Vera, AA x2, RR, Monson, he is a legit HW, and easily a top 10 at the time of teh Mercer KO. He thought he was hot shit yet all the actual heavys he had to beat were paid well in Japan. Wore his belt everywhere. Pissed on the fans instead of rolling with their boos. Then thought he could out strike a pro boxer and not train for any of it. Don't care if you think it's an excuse or not, those are the facts. They're actually not. Just searched for that chump sylva and it turns out not only is he a former UFC hw champion he's also 15 years younger than Mercer 15 YEARS!!! :haha: Never saw this one. Maybe I blinked and missed it.

somebody said sylvia has always been a clown. no he hasn't. he was a two time hw ufc champ constantly tko'ing ppl and being praised for his striking. comparing boxing to mma striking is like comparing a leica and a samsung 5mp camera phone. that's what mma is essentially, a cheap made-in-china camera phone. and streetfight-wise 9 out of 10 times it's a first-second combo punch kayo. ts, good post. He was basically winning fights with his size a lone. He hasn't really been praised for his striking so much. I've only heard him praised for his work ethic in the gym.

shit, i can find some videos of Sylvia when he was considered a contender in the UFC and you'll here Rogan and co. praising the guy about his power. you have to love the support from the MMA community for Sylvia. they totally disown him as if he was never a part of the sport. The UFC as well as their announcers are horribly biased, not represantitive of what real fans think.

Sylvia was always a B-class fighter... That became obvious when he finally faced some good competition (Nogueira, Couture, Fedor) and lost. He had two good wins (Rodriguez and Arlovski), but that had more to do with the kind of mindset those two had at the time, and luck (especially in second Arlovski fight). When Mercer KO'ed him, i was really happy... Now, we won't have to listen about Timmah for another year or two.

Never Saw the Don Frye video before... Ouch... Everyone should realise that street fighting isn't even close to a fair sport. So many factors.

I'm not going to get into that boxing vs mma argument, i like both sports. That being said Mercer is the ****ing man, and Sylvia is a clown, always has been.
