Losing is part of sport. As long as they recover from a loss and are still alive, why do we care so much? A lot of these guys get paid a lot of money to box, so it ain't like there life is in tatters. If i got paid millions to fight someone and got KO'd, i'd wake up a happy man and brush myself off and get on with it.
I'd say because by the time the fighter is well known enough to have a large following he's fighting MAYBE five times a year so unlike in other sports, there's much more time having to wonder if the loss was just bad luck or what ever or a sign of things to come.
Think about it if you're a baseball fan and your team loses you only have to wait a day or two to see them play again and get to make up for it.
Football it's a week.
Boxing it can be six months.
Also a lot of fighters have been undone by a single loss.
Some fair points there but i'd question any fighter who's career was undone by one loss, unless he's was seriously injured or hurt in the ring?

I hate seeing my fighters lose but if they lose a tough fight it will be hard but still root for them, not that big of a deal. The hard ones to see are cotto v tony, gatti v gomez, erik v manny 3
I honestly don't. That's what happens when you fight the best most of the time. The risk to lose is big.
Cotto Stans take the losing to the extreme though.
If you lose fighting then best, then i don't see how you can be so heartbroken?
The guy who lost probably made a fair few bob, and 9/10 comes back a better fighter for it.
Especially when it's your country men, you can relate. When my yankees and raiders lose im ****en hurting all day because i've rooted for them my whole life it's just something that becomes you. I love sports that has alot to do with it i guess. But boxing is a sport of hurt so i think that makes it even more important..Some people are just so passionate about sports
imma cotto fan i can see the tony fight 100 times, precise punches all night, the shit i dont like is when people make excuses for the loser, pisses me off cos then they dont hate the fighter they hate the supporters.
As fans, nobody wants to see their guy defeated. But if this thread's gettin at a million and one excuses comin up for your fighter losin, that shit is wack.
It's just like when your team losses why even root for a fighter then? I'm a Cotto fan and i can't watch the tony fight because my favorite fighter got plastered all night long it;s the guy u root for man, you just don't want him to lose especially get punished badly
Cotto came back stronger IMO, and is probably very wealthy. When my favorite fighter, team losses, i'm hurt for about 5 mins(if that lol!) and then i realise how lucky they are for doing something they love and get paid handsomely for doing it too.
