I see a lot of punches, Williams smothering Pavlik, and possibly doing it to an extent in which will lead to Pavlik sitting it out, and not answering the bell for the 11th round.
The only thing anyone has seen of Pavlik since losing to Hopkins is his Rubio fight.. I realize it wasn't quite the most overwhelming performance but I don't know how anyone can interpret a faltering mentality from watching a fighter stop his mandatory.
To me it looked like he didnt have the same fire. Rubio was a punching bag who refused to throw shots back and still it looked like a bit of a struggle for Pavlik.

once i had a dog and his name was........................
bingo
I keep reading how Williams overwhelmed Winky and got through his defense. Yea, he did that but the difference between Winky and Pavlik is that Pavlik throws back, and a lot harder. I just happened to watch the Marg/PWill fight again today and PWill wasn't exactly on steady legs in 7-9th round, Marg plugged Pwill with a solid body shot and the first time I saw it I thought PWill was going to go down. Granted, Margarito may have been wrapping as we have no idea how long he has been, but that being said Pavlik has far more power than Margarito.
Also, Pwill's power I don't think carried over to 160, what little had in the first place. Winky has a solid chin, but with the amount of punches he was taking if there was any meaningful power behind them I think Winky would have gone down. One more thing, PWills chin has not been tested at 160, he got hit with some bombs by Winky who is not a power puncher, until I see Pavlik land one of his rights and Pwill not go down I'm still suspect about his chin at 160.
That being said I'm still calling this fight 50/50. I'm still giving the edge to Pavlik because of the power and size. By size I mean these guys are almost equals in height and reach, and Pwill does so much damage because of his reach more than his work rate. Sure, he throws 100+ a round but in the Marg fight he was only landing 20% or so. Its still going to come down to either Pavlik wins by KO or Pwill by decision, those are the only two ways this fight is going to go. And right now I'm still not sold on PWill being the next coming of christ in boxing, however, if he wins this fight I won't question his ability again.

Exactly.Nobody except those close to him can know his mentality.
You know this because?

I dont think Williams is that good. Unless Pavlik just gave up on himself after the Hopkins fight I cant see him getting stopped. I think he will get outworked though.
a year ago when the 90% of this board was picking pavlik to be the first to stop b-hop(bhop not keeping up with his workrate and not being strong enouhg to keep him off), would the majority of this place had chosen Paul at the time to beat pavlik, much less stop him?..
my only thing is aside form bhop scholling pavlik(williams is no Bernard), I fail to see what paul has really done sinse to prove he's so good
anyways having said that see it as a great fight, hope it turns out that way atleast
this is a great, but tough fight for me to pick. but, if Kelly did not quit against bernard, i don't see paul making him quit.
B-Hop and Williams are very different fighters though, if Williams can put Pavlik in a similar hopeless situation I think Williams is much more likely to take advantage of that turn of events.

He doesn't have the same mentality he had then.
Pavlik's chin is not that great, and if there was a different ref in the first Taylor fight he may have never been middleweight champ. If Williams can hurt Pavlik, I do not see Pavlik getting off the hook.
Also I don't care how bad Andy Kolle is Williams put that man to sleep and if he can do once it is not out of the question for it to happean again especially against a fighter with leaky defense. Sometimes Williams put power behind his shots but he does nto always throw at full power and to me that leads to his powerful punches having more of an effect.
I would not call it likely but a real knockout is not out of the question.
I dont see it. Certainly not a clean KO or TKO. But theres a slight chance of a corner stoppage if hes getting another Hopkins-esque beatdown.
I don't see Pavlik going down either. I see him not answering the 11th round , he w ill be in the fight, but I think Williams just outworks him.
I wouldnt be shocked if he stopped Pavlik.. He throws ALOT of punches and looks like he has some zip behind them now. He was touching up Winky and Winky has GREAT defense... Pavliks defense is suspect at best lol

I don't see it happening
The thing about this fight that Williams has to prepare for is he's not fighting a guy he's towering over. Pavlik is right there in height and size and also packs one hell of a punch. I think Williams is going to be a lot more careful than any other fight he's been in. Though Pavlik is a one-dimensional fighter, he knows how to fight his style and never really shows signs of frustration more than continuing to throw.
I think Williams can win on points, but I'm not sold yet on his power at 160 against a legit Middleweight. But we shall see...
Anything is possible. My issue wit this, tho I'm rootin for Pwill, is his untested chin at 160. Power is the 1 edge Pavlik has here, and Pwill got no defense other than clinchin. I think Pavlik will end up puttin him down.
Showing your class hurling insults once again. Go put your tongue in some PR fighters ass somewhere else.
:rofl::rofl:
Man,I'm biased, but people don't see that the Punisher's been putting some mustard behind the volume lately & if he beat Winky that convincingly,he might beat Pavlik worse!!:boxing:
