He is still shot, and Lacy was more or less tailor made. No Jones would not beat Calzaghe ina rematch, he would still get stopped by Glenn Johnson, Dawson would UD him, and Hopkins would as well or possibly stop him late. Roy Jones should beat Green and retire as a cruiserweight titlist, because I think he would lose to all those I mentioned, and Adanek would do some sinister things to him.
All valid points, and Pavlik deserved his credit, but when he signed to fight BHop I just went oh shit. I knew Mosley would dominate Margo(like I knew Cotto would) but I didnt see that coming. I can see we just have differences of opioion and I applaud the fact I managed to have a discussion with someone without it turning into a 5th grade name calling contest, but Im off to the gym now so, Peace.
Alright man, take it easy bro.
In all fairness Lacy never beat anyone. Taylor was one of the best P4P and Pavlik murked him twice after Murking Miranda and Zertuchy. Pavlik was also a P4P fighter himself, and was very very good. His boxing skills were there, he was kind of technicalm, and he keeps his hands up.
I also thought Mosley would win, but I was thinking a SD after a war, not a one sided ass whupping and the first KO loss of Margaritos career, that win wa shuge and unexpected.

His HYPE was at its peak, now I did like Pavlik but he really just a tough guy with a strong punch nothing more nor less. The people comparing Pavlik to Hagler were the same people comparing Margarito to Hearns and Im not even going to get into what I think of most of that crowd. I won money on both the BHop-Pavlik and SSM-Margo fights because Im more interestd in money than rooting for a certain fight, I love the sport as a whole. We must interpret Wrights fight differently because I though he was walking Tito down with the jab and blocking the counters also. If we were to go on hype Lacy had that same amount of hype going into the Calzaghe fight, and even I jumped on that one from my own ignorance of Joe.

Come on. The Pavlik hype was at its peak then. People were talking about kelly probably KOing people with his jab in the future, and were making thread about him vs Hagler prime for prime, with a good percentage saying Pavlik would win. Pavlik was turning fihgter sinto rubble, and only lost to Hopkins because he could not deal with angles and a slick fighter who was better than him. Pavlik still beats all the SMW's IMO.

I guess so...
Will he be happy on just being that though?
Why not? Lacy will never win another title. I think Bute might use him as a tune up next for some good money.
Lacy is a gatekeeper. If you can beat him you go and fight B level or A level fighters for a title. Lacy still has a name and can make some money in the game.

Where does Lacy go from here?
Gotta be the retirement home....
And the Jones Jnr bandwagon rolls on...

When a future ATG and arguably the best MW champ ever is an underdog to Kelly Pavlik in his first fight at that weight are you telling me career wasnt on a downslide? The way Wright beats anybody is to walk them down which I find would be hard against a naturally bigger man who is potshotting you all night.

Wright doesn't walk anybody down. He stands infront of you and works behind his jab just like he did to trinidad and Mosley. The only time I saw Wright try to walk somebody down was Jermaine Taylor, and that was because Taylor still had legs at that point and was easier to fight him while backing him up.
His career was never in shambells to begin with. taylor got a gift no doubt about it. You have to beat the champion to become it, and Taylor did not beat anyone. You do not resurrect your career unless it gets buried.

Pavlik would have koed Roy fairly easily, but I disagree about Wright. Roy would win rounds bouncing fast shots off of Wrights guard and it would have won him rounds. I dont think Roys a world beater but he gives some fighters problems especially ones who have problems with fighters with quick hands.
There are two ways to beat Winky Wright. You either simple try to outwork him and win on activity, or you stay in his chest and throw shot 6 inch punches around his guard while smothering his right jab a la Bernard Hopkins. Winky also fights really well when he has you on the ropes, and he does not get outboxed when he has room. You either give him no room, or you outwork him.
I would appreciate it if before you commented on my posts you read all of them instead of jumping in a conversation you dont know whats going on. I admit Roy is done and have no problem doing so, but at 44 Hopkins is close and people need to realize beating a 170lb Pavlik did not resurrect his career

Wright from 2006-7 beats Jones at 170. Wright would block everything he would have to throw, and can actually land shots. Also Pavlik would have stopped RJJ. The ropes is one place you do not want to be against Pavlik.

The difference is that you could make a strong case for Hopkins getting robbed in those fights against Taylor or Calzaghe. Can we say that with Roy Jones as it relates to Tarver, Johnson or Calzaghe especially? I don't think so. Roy is done, let it go.

JT fought basically the same version of Lacy as Roy and looked about the same doing it. Roy also beat a younger more determined version of Tarver, Tarver is not that good and deserves to be overlooked. I dont care about odds I had good money on Hopkins beating Pavlik because his ring intellingence alone is too much for Pav. Wright was a good win, but I dont think Wright could beat Roy either and has lost his legs as well as Roy has. OF all the people calling robbery for those fights most were BHop fans to begin with so take that as you want. I wish Roy would reitre, but BHop at this point in his career I fell is being overrated.

B-hop in the opinon of many beat Taylor both times, and beat Calzaghe. Fact is those fights were close and could have gone either way. They were also elite fighters, and why should you overlook Wright, Tarver and Pavlik? All were favorites to win. Pavlik was a 4-1 and most thought he would KO Hopkins. Hopkins is yet to lose clearly, those fihgts were not split decisions for nothing.
At this point Roy offers no threat to Hopkins. No ring savy, no headmovement, nothing. That fight would be very one sided IMO, and this is why Hopkins says he changed his mind after watching Roy get more or less demolished by Calzaghe.

1.) Adamek isn't that great at all, he just looks like an ATG against the current crop of fighters. 2.) Jones isn't shot, Yory Boy Campas is shot, Hasim Rahman is shot, Evander Holyfield is shot.
