does his ibo title make him a 6 division world titlist? (pac fans???)
Hatton not only came in with the IBO title but more importantly, The Ring Jr. WW championship.....
he is definetely ATG.....
winning over Duran is one of his best accomplishment but remember that Duran was the smaller man coming into the fight.....same thing with hiss loss to Hagler.....
a great big man always wins over a great little man....
One of my favorite fighters ever, he could brawl and box, and was one of the most dangerous punchers if not the most dangerous ever. His KO of Duran was just brutal.
He's also a very hard fighter to judge as far as where he belongs in the 80's fearsome foursome along with Duran, Leonard, and Hagler. He lost his two biggest fights against Leonard and Hagler, and while he wasn't exactly terrible in those fights and had a spotless record in his prime otherwise, it's hard to put him above those two even though a very good case can be made to.
He sure had the height to do his division hopping, but not everyone knows how to use their height and reach to their advantage, Hearns did. He was a great fighter.
and look at his resume.
cuevas
benitez
roldan (underrated fighter)
duran
shuler (wouldve been a great fighter)
hill
leonard (yes he won the 2nd fight)
olajide, medal etc were good fighters aswell. his resume is amazing.
He certainly is a massive legend and I've always felt was very underrated by most people. Great, great fighter and definitely one of the more accomplished ever.
