This man is a marketing genius. He knew that if he didn't play the heel, no one would watch his fights. He took to the part like fish to water and has never looked back. He is actually a professional inside the ring and very gracious in post fight conferences.
His act is unique and generates alot of interest in his fights. Half of the people who bought his fights probably wanted to see him lose and ko'd. And the more he keeps winning, the more fans want to see him lose. Brillant.
PBF is the smartest man in boxing.
Wrong, he doesnt do it either.
He fought Hatton, the best at 140.
He's fighting Cotto, arguably the best welterweight.
And his fifth division was Super feather and he fought Juan Manuel Marquez for the title who was the #1 in the division.
those arent tears of misbelief. those are tears of success and a happy ending to all the hard work he put in to preparing ad fighting the fight
which shows he never underestimates any of his opponents which is why hes so great...b/c his work ethic and discipline is unmatched
Thats what i was tryna say...u just put it in better words lol
good SH*t tho
Mr boat buyer can sell wit opponents people think can KO him. It's smart on his part to act like a heel. Nothin wrong wit hype and smack talk, except not backin it up in the ring.
Hmm, Oscar, Zab, and Hatton worse than prior Castillo, very debatable.
Yes, debatable and probably needs another thread.
In any case, Pre JLC - Corrales, Manfredy, Genaro Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Emmanuel Augustus and of course, JLC.
Post - Sharmba Mitchell, Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton, Brussels, Corley and ODLH.
Let's get others to decide.
well it's better than floyd's acting that u fuucking praise. biatch.
You mean the one that bought him his Mayback, a multimullion dollar home and upcoming fights that could net him at least 30 mil. Nah... I don't think so.
It's bitch, you bitch!
I agree he is smart in the sense that he makes a lot of money without taking a lot of punishment.
I often said that after the first Castillo fight and then the rematch, Floyd became more of a businessman. If you compare his records pre JLC and post, the quality of opposition is like night and day.
Youre the first Pac fan Ive seen that isnt bias then, if youre a Pac fan, if so I respect your opinion.
I am a Pac fan, a frustrated PBF fan, a Shane fan, a Nard fan, a JMM fan, love Izzy Vasquez, Donaire, Maidana, Linares, and more. In short, I am a boxing fan.
I really should change my sig and avatar. Most people think I'm a pachugger. I'm not. I'm just a boxing fan since my grandfather took me to a local fight in '79.
Do you agree that he is one of the smartest men in boxing, in and out of the ring? I can't think of another fighter who manages and promotes himself, as well as this guy.
I agree he is smart in the sense that he makes a lot of money without taking a lot of punishment. As far as managing and promoting himself, he is managed by one of the most powerful managers in boxing Al Haymon, and most of his fights have been promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Top Rank and HBO.
It's definitely good for him since it's hard to get mainstream sports fans to root for an extremely cautious good guy. Instead of dealing with the indifference that comes with being a safety-first good guy, he chooses to polarize people as a safety-first bad guy.
If not for his attitude, which really is manufactured since he's not ghetto or a gangsta by nature, he'd be irrelevant and unknown outside of boxing.

i think you got it backwards, he's good for ppvs, but not for the sport. just my two cents.
These days, PPVs are a good indication of how the sport is doing. I think it's safe to say that if the PPV is good then so is the sport.
If Floyd cherrypicked what did Pac do.
Uh.oh. Hit a nerve. Don't worry, I don't agree with Pac team's negotiating tactics either, ie.,. catchweight, purse splits, but that's for another thread.
This thread is about Floyd and you are welcome to dispute that Floyd didn't cherrypick without bringing another fighter in the conversation. It doesn't make the arguement better, it just reinforces that both fighters were both wrong in handling their businesses.
I understand.
I never said that Floyd backs up his trash talk. My point is that his trash talks sells the fights and is good for boxing, in general. Backing it up is another thing.
I really think that Floyd approaches boxing like an accountant. He has to because he manages and promotes himself.
I think you just have to take it as pure entertainment and be hopeful that casual boxing fans buy his act and continue paying for his fights. If you want boxing to survive, you need characters like PBF, the smartest man in boxing.
I respect you post for caring about the sport even If I don't agree with some things. GREEN K
No way I'm paying for that. I will watch illegally since I'm a boxing fan. I just wont support him buying any of his PPV's.
Hey relax this is my Honest Opinion I can't stand a guy who trash talks and don;t back it up plain and simple and Floyd is no exception.

Fan? I'm the first one to recognize that PBF after JLC II cherrypicked his way through the P4P ranking. Read my posts about my thoughts on him fighting Marquez, a fighter 2 weight classes lower than him.
You just can't accept that even you got suckered into buying one of his fights. GTFO here! Let me guess, you're going to watch the JMM fight, as well. At least, I never bought any of his fights.

READ THIS: I'm not a fan of MMA and I watch UFC 101 last week and Damn did I had fun watching the champ (SILVA) taking on the real #1 contender in his weight div. And that is the reason Pac, Cotto, Hatton, Mosley among others are so loved by their fans. Why you think Floyd had to reschedule his fight???? Fans are so tire of his crap for example.
140 = Bruseles, OOOOLD Gatti
147 = Mitchell, Baldi , Struggle with Judah , 140 champ Hatton that struggle with ****ing Collazo (Mosley toyed with him) at 147.
154 = I actually gave Floyd props for taking this fight he clearly knew he was past his prime and still SD him.
That is my Honest Opinion post like or not it will still be my opinion and possibly the same of a lot of people here.

PBF comes off as a stuttering fool when he talks trash. Cool... he talks shit to sell his fights. But not well. He just sounds stupid. I'm sick of watching him clap his hands together and stutter the same phrases over and over again, while managing to not directly answer whatever question is asked of him...
