very true, but in a scenario such as cotto vs mayweather, cotto will have to use his pressure and power a lot more then his technical skills (similar to castillo), because there is no way he can out box mayweather.
other then that, I agree cotto has more dimensions
on the contrary i believe that if cotto should meet floyd in the ring he would be well advised to establish a rhythm, fight smart behind a hard jab and not over-commit to foolish punches. if he does that he conserves his power punching stamina and avoids being pot-shotted by the master of hit and run
these two guys have different styles...while they are not worlds apart they are clearly not the same exact kind of fighter.
the way cotto moves from the crouch and puts together combinations sets him apart from castillo. just because they both have a bruising style built around combinations punctuated with body shots does NOT make them the same fighter.
i can see where someone would see similarities, but if you are saying that cotto is no more than a slower JLC you are incorrect. they are not worlds apart though. your opinion is not totally ridiculous, it is just slightly off

ok give or take, cotto has bit more technical skill, castillo is faster with stronger chin

i understand why you would say that but they have different boxing mechanics.
they both try to achieve the same thing, body punches and tight powerful combinations, but they do it in different ways

I disagree, both are terrific body punchers, both are pressure fighters that rely on power

Nah, Cotto isn't a pressure fighter. He is more of a boxer-puncher. He uses the jab but goes for power punches over anything else. Probably why he gases by the 7th round.
I like this relation though. I never would have though of Cotto being like Castillo but it makes sense. Cotto is basically like Castillo but bigger and slower.
very true, but cotto jabs with his power hand, there fore I see his jab as a power punch rather then a regular jab used to set up combos.

But Castillo was more of a brawler..did you see when him and Corrales (RIP) went at it..wow..Castillo had a chin, Cotto is more crafty, they dont fight the same way.

besides the fact that they have totally different styles, you are correct
wait
