How would you say the legendary quartet of SRL, hearns, hagler, and duran match up against the future legendary quartet of Pacquiao, morales, barrera and JMM?
Which 4 were deeper? which 4 were better? which 4 fought better competition? how do you compare them? how do you compare them alltime? I might be biased because I wasn't alive when SRL, hearns, hagler and duran were leaving their marks on the boxing world, but I think I might go with Pac and the three mexicans. What do you think?

totally different , Any 1 of those guys Duran,SRL,Hagler or Hearns would beat any of the current 4 fighters you mentioned. And it would be ugly..very ugly..
The fights between Morales, Barrera, Pac and JMM are much better than the fab 4 fights between each other in the 80's. In fact its not even close if you don't blow the old timers.
see this dude understands why i said "FAIL" and im sorry to the original poster.. i didnt mean to be so rude..lol and i understand that you werent around durin their time.. and i wasnt either.. but the thing is
like champbox says
Hearns, Leonard, and Duran are easily in the top 20-30 of ALL TIME GREATS..
Pacquiao isnt in the same league in terms of greatness....neither are the other 3 mexican legends these 4 are probably in the top 50 60 of all time greats
actually i think pacman is now a top 25 ATG and his wins over HOF comp put him at the very least in the same bracket as tommy hearns. whats more people have a tendency to exaggerate and romanticize the achievements of the old fab four.
anyways has anyone else spotted how boxing writer and journalists are always looking out for the next fab four. at one stage calz, toney, hopkins and RJJ were being labelled with the same title as well.
imo what made the intial fab four so good is that they were considered great fighters before they met each other. we have four good fighters in pac,JMM,morales and MAB and likewise with calz, hopkins, toney and RJJ but they all fight in weight classes that are more or less the same, because of that we dont see them clean out the division.
Well the oldies you mention 3 of them are top 10 ATG and the other is just outside the Top 10!!!!!!!

look, I'm not asking which of the four would beat the other four!
Obviously the oldies are in a bigger weight class.
What I'm asking is which 4 were better in terms of greatness and overall stamp on boxing.
I'm sorry if I dont know much about boxing history, I wasn't old enough to follow the old fab 4's careers. I've only seen their fights on youtube.

FAIL!....... d-___-b
People are being too harsh on this guy. The smaller guys gave the better fights on average I think as well as the larger number of fights. Put your nostalgia to one side and fry up some objectivity once in a while...
out of those, manny is the only one you can try to compare to the fav 4 of old.
And he is not o their league!!!!!!
But I do think they made for much better fights overall than the old fab 4.
This is a good comparison I think. One of the best posts in a while. All eight are great, some of the best to lace them up.... I might even lean towards the smaller guys in this one because of the MAB v Morales trilogy and the two Pac Marquez fights.
