I have always followed his career, but I used to do so thinking that he was an ok fighter. However, all that changed after the first round of the first pacquiao fight. After he got put down 3 times in the opening round, and looked like he was going to die, I thought he was done. After watching him proceed to pound on Pacquiao round after round after round with blood streaming out of his nose struggling to breath I concluded that he was not human. Even though I came into the fight thinking Pacquiao would win a wide decision, I had Marquez winning the fight even with the 10-6 opening round. From then on I have supported JMM in all of his fights, and he is currently my second favorite active fighter. So what is it that made you a loyal follower of Dinimita?
Getting up off the canvas over and over in the first round and then putting on a boxing clinic against Pac for the rest of the fight. I liked him before, but that was amazing.
He's my current favorite fighter. I started following him when he beat PR journeyman Wilfredo Vargas. He impressed me when he destroyed "Mantecas" Medina, and obviously the first Pac fight. He's the #1p4p for me.
the First Pac fight, Pac thought his night would be short, lol, he was WRONG AS FUKK!!! lol,
also as he's getting older i notice his tools or getting rustier, but he is still beating elite fighters on sheer WILL alone, he was getting beat early in the diaz fight, and even the middle, but the will of JMM is crazy, mans a true fighter!!!!
My cousins girl is Philipino and we were watching the fight at their house & really didn't know who Marquez was,but everyone was going for pacman!!So being naturally competitive,I didn't know who Marquez was but I bet on him!!After being dropped 3 times,I pretty much concieded defeat, but then I saw for 11 rounds after that, the greatest display of courage I have ever seen, amazing!!!
yeah i also admired him on his THIRD fight with Pacman. did he win?
I actually meant to say the first fight is what made me a fan of Marquez. That was a mistake on my part. I scored the third fight for JMM. Yes.
im a fan since i saw this pic

at least post a real pic.. not one that's a photoshop.
fail.
The third Pacquiao fight is what made me one of his fans. He has done a lot of the right things since then to get to the top except going to Indonesia to fight that stupid fight with Chris John. There are only two opponents that I wish he would have fought. Actually three. Hamed (before he got exposed by Barrera, and had ducked JMM), a prime Morales, and Humberto Soto. Those would've been cracking fights with Hamed being the easiest.
First time I saw him was against Licona, he was so sloooooow. But the variety of punches were a beauty to behold. He was hitting from unusual angles.
I became a greater fan when he went toe to toe with Manny, and cursed when he was totally robbed against Chris John.
Now he's number 2 on my favorites list mainly because he has shown how ballsy he really is, unafraid to take punches and dish out beautiful combos.
Been rooting for him ever since (except when he fights Pac of course :D)
I remember after Pac-MAB 1 they were talkin at ringside about what FW wouldn't be shook about facin Pac. Steward said it'd be JMM. I was only a casual fan of his then, but I started lookin at his fights to see how he could do wit Pac. He hadn't had a really big fight yet, even tho he had belts. I was fiendin for the Pac fight and he delivered a gr8 show, after he almost got squashed in rd 1. Been a diehard fan of his ever since.
I had always heard his name but my first real exposure to him was against a journeyman named Marcos Licona who he knocked out with one of the most beautiful uppercuts I've ever seen.
I had never seen anyone so technically perfect before. The guy had timing, speed, power, leverage and unparalleled intelligence.
That made me a fan, but what made me a loyal fan was the fight you mentioned street.
When he got dropped 3 times and then came back to win every round after that against Packy I knew that he was something special.
He made Packy look like an amateur for the next 11 rounds with a broken nose and a bruised ego.
Can you imagine JMM against Bradley this past weekend quitting like bitchass Nate Campbell did?
Or better yet, can you imagine Campbell getting up 3 times and fighting like JMM did against Packy?
No.
Whoever thinks Campbell could beat JMM should shoot themselves in the head.
I was a fan since seeing him against Manny in that first fight!
I thought who the fuk is this dude!
From there got the career set
Rare to see a man put his punches together like he does
pure class....
That's what made me a fan as well.
Dude has so much heart, no matter what the adversity.
I also like him because he is vulnerable and you never know what
is going to happen when he fights. (this also makes me a fan of Cotto)
He is a throwback fighter, he'll mix it up with anyone.
He's got the biggest balls in boxing and is very entertaining to watch.
