Now before some retards start flaming the thread I am against the fight being at 145lbs. I think it's pointless. But Cotto should really cut it out with this "If I cant keep the belt then I wont let you have it either" type ish that he's been on.
145 or 147 really makes no difference. If the fight is at 147 Cotto would weigh in officially at 146 and rehydrate to 160. If the fight is at 145 he can still choose to come in at 146 or even at 145 he would still have no problem making the weight comfortably and still rehydrate to 160. So what difference would it make whether it be 145 or 147?? I just wish either Pacquiao or Cotto or both stop being divas and we the fans all shut the **** up and quit bitchin about the weight or the title being on the line because regardless of your perspective everyone is really saying the same shit and we'd all like to come to the same conclusion anyway.
fukk this fight....if its not a title fight pac should fight ssm intead ....he gets more reward if he beats him.....
Red right back at ya, dickhead.
And again, when you so obviously haven't a ****ing clue what you're talking about, maybe you should keep your trap shut.
i can take a shit and lose two pounds dumbass...its not a big deal....cottos a grown man and he knows what the fukk hes doing...so if he agrees to it it means he has no problem doing it...
Yeah, you can shit and lose maybe a pound. These guys aren't eating like you do, and might be able to drop a couple of ounces in the toilet, if it happens to be the day they can take a dump. The rest of it is lost through dehydration and diet. Sometimes they even drain blood before a weigh in.
Next time you want to talk shit about something you're completely ignorant of, maybe you should reconsider before hitting the reply button and maybe you won't look as stupid as you do right now, and won't feel the need to be hostile when you reply to the guy who called you on your idiotic comments.
co fukkin sign!!!!!!!!
No he wouldnt. If Pac beats Mosley then Cotto would just bitch that Pac ducked him and that it doesnt prove much because he already beat Mosley.
Do you understand what 2 pounds can mean? Do you know how much fluid you have to lose to drop 2 pounds? It can be devastating, if the guy's body just isn't small enough anymore. And 24 hours won't be enough to recover. You **** your body up badly by dehydrating too far.
Never take lightly the work these guys do to make weight and put on a show for you.
I understand what 2lbs can mean. Ever fighter is different. In this particular case Cotto looked very comfortable making 146 in his last fight so in this case it'd only be 1lb difference. Taking off another pound by spending an extra hour in the sauna and taking an extra dump the morning of the weighin wont do a damn thing to Cotto.
WW tittle fight means that the champ or challenger can weight 141-147.
Tittle fights means 3% to the Organization
3% means 300-400K FROM COTTO'S PURSE- why don't manny pay for it.
Cotto's giving manny 2 pounds, the bigger share and now the tittle??
Arum should pay Cotto more and Manny can have the belt. Anyway he's gonna get KO
btw....LMAO at the 160
See all these are menial details. So pretty much you're saying that these are negotiable and in essence mirroring pretty much the same statements i've made.
Cotto could still weigh in as much as 147 even with the 145lb agreement. He'd just have to pay a little extra or they could have the fight at 147 and take a slight paycut. Cotto is just bitching about a 3% fee which Arum has already stated he would be willing to pay for both Cotto AND Pacquiao. Which all equates to pretty much the same thing. A WELTERWEIGHT FIGHT that whether the belt be on the line or not makes no difference because in the end its still a full on WELTERWEIGHT FIGHT.
Everything about the belt is not about the weight or the purse...
Its all about Cotto's pride and he has all the rights to decide... because he holds it... Pacquiao should stop aiming for the belt and should stick to the original plan when they both agreed on 145 (without the belt).. I am not agaist their fight at 145 but I am really not unto giving that belt at 145... it's totally unfair for Cotto...
The best thing we can do is wait 'cause it's a decision that both fighters have to make with the assistance of their lawyers. The macho bullsh!t about who's dictating the contarct stipulations are irrelevant for fans to discuss. Let's just hope that the fight will happen as planned on Nov. 14.
cotto had to pay more money to manny just for manny to accept the 145 weight limit, no way hes gonna put the tittle at stake for the same amount of money they agreed to make the fight posible without cotto getting at least a little more money.
I understand that. But why all the fuss about it?? 145 would be nothing more than a formality and peace of mind for the Pacquiao team. In the end it's still a full on welterweight fight without anyone being weight drained. I think the catchweight is pointless because the 2lbs are not going to do a damn thing to Cotto but if the fight ends up at 145 with the title on line im not gonna bitch about it either because of the exact same reasons. The 2lbs arent gonna do a damn thing to Cotto and in the end it'll still be a full on welterweight fight.

Why are we so concerned with the money that both fighters will make? Are you getting a percentage from Cotto's purse and PPV profits? I think as a fan we should be grateful that both fighters agreed in principle (If contract is not signed yet) to face each other on Nov. 14. Let just drop this bull crap and enjoy the match if it happens.
CATCHWEIGHT AND PURSE FOR BOTH FIGHTERS ARE NOT OUR BUSINESS!!!

The point is to make money, not lose it.
This is his highest pay day ever and you want him to pay the ridiculous fee for every pound over?
I think DLH was charged from 3-5 million per pound and you want Cotto to pay 6-10 million of his guaranteed 12 million in weight overage fees, plus another 400,000 in sanctioning fees? :pat:
Fee for Cotto would be 1mil per pound over. They could restructure the contract of the fight to be at 147 but Cotto would end up taking less money. In the end it all equates to the same shit does it not?
I've competed in the amateur circuit in california in both boxing and wrestling so stfu. Cotto will not have to dry himself out to make 145. He looked very comfortable weighing in at 146 vs Clottey. An extra hour in the sauna wont hurt him at all.
During this whole negotiation period Cotto's team has been willing to make concessions to put Cotto in better position to win the fight. What difference will it make to make the fight at 147 taking less money. Or keeping the fight at 145 making more money, and paying a million of it to weigh in 1lb more officially. the same weight he would weigh had it been at 147.
And if the belt is on the line at 145lbs and he weighs in as much as 147 he might have to pay fees to the Pacquiao team for goin over the agreed weight but he WILL NOT be stripped and the fight would still take place and the belt would still be on the line because it's still within the welterweight limit.

FOR REAL!!??! Holy shit, I didn't know that a fighter can choose to come in at a different weight than what was agreed upon and face no penalties. How do YOU know he won't have a problem making the weight comfortably? Have you ever tried to make weight before? I think not. He's going to have to dry himself out to make 145. Can he do it? I think so. Will it affect him? Hopefully not. He can rehydrate after the weigh in, but that won't stop him from being weakened from the weight loss. Ask DLH about that.
Oh, by the way. If Cotto didn't make weight, it would mean he most likely dried himself out and still couldn't make it. On top of that, he will be STRIPPED of his title (if it's on the line) and will face a shitload of money in penalties. Just FYI. That's what happens when you fail to make weight.

I think because it's a welterweight fight that if pacman wants to weigh-in at 141 and cotto at 147, let it be. As long as it is 141-147.
