I'm a big fan of Vitali, but I dont think this was the best choice of opponents for him. I know VK has a great chin, but at 38 years old he is getting past his prime, if he hasnt already past it. Almost everyone goes out on a loss (oscar, leonard, hearns, ali, tszyu, whitaker, tito, etc) and this could be VK's time.
They say the first two things go when you get old are your chin and reflexes. Arreloa is a big puncher with decent hand speed. I know Gomez is awkard fighter, but it looked like VK took more shots than usual. If VK is starting to age, then Arreola has a really good chance to pull the upset.
On the flip side, I also know that once Haye backed out there wasnt many other decent contenders to fight. I mean all that was left is chambers, arreola and povetkin. I hope I'm wrong and that VK blows Arreola out like he did kirk johnson. But unless Vk retires like lewis, sooner or later his time will be up. At 38 years old, I hope he beats arreola and retires.
Arreola is tailor made for Vitali. He would be possibly dangerous for Wlad, who has problems with his chin, but Vitali doesn't have that problem. Also Arreola isn't tested so we have no idea how he will respond the minute Vitali starts beating on him.
I don't think he's as chinny as people think, honestly, but he is easier to tag with flush shots than Vitali, or at least he used to be. His new "safety-first" style doesn't let him get hit often, but it gives his opponents the ability to hang around far longer than they should.
Vitali fights tall... leaned back, with a low guard and uses his left as a buffer between himself and his opponent. A guy his size can get away with it against nearly everyone (as he's proven), and an aggressive guy his size that fights like this is scary farking dangerous...as he's also proven. I don't look for Vitali to lose before he retires (again), not with this current crop of heavyweights. I think Wlad has a better chance at getting beat, but only against another big guy who fights tall and can bang....like his brother. There are some promising prospects, but I think both the Klitschkos will be retired before they risk a loss against anyone. If Tyson Fury put some more time in at the gym, and had maybe another dozen fights under his belt, I'd pick him to beat Wlad....yeah, laugh if you will.
are you serious?? arreola has 89% KO%, pretty much the same as haye... and he destoyed Mccline quick and easy, something nobody else has done....
McCline was old, shot and not in shape against Arreola. I dont think Arreola is verry good.

Vitali wants and needs a great fight! I really think Vitali wants a challenge in the ring to show how good he is. I just hope The Nipple can come in shape and deliver for the good of the sport...
Arreola is still a bit of an unknown quantity, and his conditioning is questionable, altho his KO record is impressive. VK is trying to leave a legacy now, Arreola would be stage one, and Haye next.
At Soir: trying since 2007 to get Valuev.

Valuev has been long overdue for at least 4 years now! Show me a video where either Klit has called him out. I mean really call him out like Tyson did to Lewis in 2000. Back when the Heavyweight division was worth a damn, the top guys would call each other out and everyone would hear about it despite there being no internet or youtube. Wat as K2 done?
The Klits will go down in history as a bunch of sheisters who made their way by cherry picking opponents, unfair contract stipulations and tampering with ring sizes.
WTF, valuev!?!? the guy who lost chageav, who wlad destroyed!
the guy who could only beat ruiz be split decision?
Who the hell SHOULD the K brothers fight in your opinion?
WHO ELSE, I ASK YOU!

Do you REALLY think the Klitschkos cherry pick their competition? Get real!
Vitali came from four-year-hiatus for one belt holder (Peter). No warm-up-fight, an experienced and dangerous foe (at least on paper).
Wlad offered both Haye and Valuev a chance to fight. Haye pulled out and Valuev didn't step in. So Wlad had to fight Chagaev, a #1 contender - outclassing him.
Who the hell SHOULD the K brothers fight in your opinion?
Haye had two chances at a K brother. Valuev's management preferred talking about a Holyfield rematch right after the fight, but avoided a discussion about any Klitschko like the plague. Now, after Valuev's loss against Chagaev, his pullout from the rematch, and the crushing defeat of Chagaev, Valuev is not #1 anymore.
Povetkin, Dimitrenko, Chambers... or who? Chambers and Povetkin are due 'till year's end. Dimitrenko got stuffed by Chambers.

The Klitschkos are a JOKE!
Arreola is not a dangerous opponent for either klit and he is not even in the top 5 Heavyweights
1. Vitali
2. Wladamir
3. Eddie Chambers
4. Valuev
5. David Haye
6. Alexander Peovetikin
7.......
Do not believe the hype guys, Arreola is just another cherry picked bum. If he had a 91% ko percentage like Haye or a 4 inch height advantage like Valuev the fight would have never been made.
Nice of you to make up a list, but here's the more recognized version:
1.Wlad
2.Vitali
3.Povetkin
4.Chambers
5.Chagaev
6.Valuev
7.Arreola
8.Haye
9.Ruiz
10.Boytsov
Arreola is probably the most underrated fighter on these boards. Sure, the guy has been coming in heavy, but he comes to fight, makes for an exciting fight, has power in both hands and can take a punch.

i really feel for arreola, i heard that he was slightly sceptical about fighting so soon because he had concerns over cutting weight. iv heard that he wanted the fight at a alater date so that he could be properly trained and ready.
vitali is a good fighter and generally gets more respect than his brother but i think he is due a loss soon. vs gomez he didn't look good, gomez southpaw stance and awkwardness meant that vitali was exhausted by round 6. i can't help but think thata pressure fighter with good lateral movement, who is constantly feinting and forcing vitali to change direction will have alot of success.
but arreola is not that type of fighter, the small time scale means that he won't come into the fight at 100% but even if he had it would be a big ask. i see vitali stopping him, i think it will be alot like sam peter vs vitali, where vitali dominates with his jab and drops the occasional thudding right hand.
Well, he's not bad, but he's got power, a decent chin, and is always willing to take some so he can give some. That combination can make you "good", just not great. He's basically going to end up as a gatekeeper. Unfortunately, taking this fight with Vitali is just going to significantly advance the date he's demoted to gatekeeper status...to basically the day after his fight with Vitali.
I absolutely agree. I've been saying it for a while now, the day these "prospects" get the Klit fight they are so desperately seeking out is the day they stop being prospects. And by that I do not mean they become champs.
Even so, I agree that Arreola has a puncher's chance, but every heavyweight does. Both Klits are incredibly talented and have to much expirience or talent for any of the current contenders. Especially the American ones.
Arreola is not ready yet...
he probably isnt.... ideally he should take another fight against a top 10-20 guy like brock, brewster, sultan, rahman to get him ready... but he has power and will trade leather with VK, so you never know... i would have loved to see him and haye fight for the right to a title shot, but oh well...
