I am going to translate the latest article from the "Combination" column written by Pacquiao himself, for those of you who do not understand the Filipino language (translation in italics). I have to say this at the outset though: Pacquiao is not chasing boxing immortality. He is THAT HUMBLE. No surprise the belt isn't up for grabs. Most sanctioning bodies wouldn't allow it unless the true limit of the weight were allowable for both fighters. Even being within the weight class, forcing Cotto to come down that extra couple of pounds should rightly prohibit Manny having a shot at the belt, regardless. He could win the belt if he were willing to let Cotto come in at 147 at the weigh in. Personally, I'm starting to smell an upset here. I'd heard Manny was insisting on something like 142, which would hurt Cotto to make, but 145....he can just drain a couple of pints of blood right before weigh in and then replace it afterwards. :D

I love how humble this guy is....and wht he said is fair enough...the belts wont be on the line because its 145....If people still slate him about the fight being at 145 now....I know its just hate....they wanted 145....they didnt want the belts to be up...all of that is now true...they cant try and get any other excuse if pac wins... No championship belt has been agreed upon in this fight, because of the catch weight of 145 pounds, 2 pounds lower than the 147 welterweight limit. Just a slight difference, but it reads less lke a statement of finality. Given the WBO's vocal interest in the sanctioning fees, and Filipino interest in Pac winning a 7th strap, I wouldn't rule a title fight out. Oh geez you are right. After I translated it, I drove to SM Marikina for groceries, and while driving it hit me that I did not translate that crucial one to the letter. The next sentence is an "even if" scenario, one we lawyers like to call an "assuming that" scenario. So yes you are correct. It does leave the door for WBO to insist on this being a title fight, but at least we now know Pacquiao's sentiment as far as the belt is concerned, and that as of this time, the fighters "have not agreed" to put Cotto's belt on the line. every credible boxing source had pacquiao #1 before joe even retired. it's not my opinion. it's fact. look up boxingscene's ranking , east side boxing's , ring magazine's , espn's , cyberboxing's back then. why? because miguel cotto got KTFO barely 3 fights ago. juan manuel marquez had a sd loss with the current #1 and has gone on to beat the lineal champ and another top lightweight and if he beats floyd that shits on anything cotto has ever done. floyd mayweather jr. was #1 before he retired barely a year and half ago and if he beats jmm he just gets a win over the #2 p4p fighter in the world. cotto's resume is so god damn overrated. he's a good fighter with a good resume. nothing more. really... thats interesting...

I'm glad to read this, it shows some class from Pac. He probably tried to have it a title fight, but when Cotto said no and gave the reason, Manny probably said whatever, no big deal. Everything we have heard in negotiations, from the weight to whether the title would be on the line, has been completely blown out of proportion. This fight was never in jeopardy of not happening.

Some of these guys on here are saying it's not for p4p status but if not the winner of these 2 guys then who??? Pacquiao has done what people thought was the impossible and has come out on top and Cotto has faced more top competition at welter weight than any other...both these guys in my opinion are fighting for the mythical number 1 p4p spot. Mayweather....please dude hasn't fought any worthy competition since leaving 135lbs. then retired while still not facing tough competition...nuff said. Marquez...I have respect for the man but don't see why he is ranked so high by many since losing to Manny twice (it's in the books baby) winning a fight with Juan (who was dismantled by Nate Campbell), and beating an over the hill, over rated Casamayor who was beaten left and right by Jose Armando Santa Cruz...yeah someone that nobody knew before facing Casamayor...whatever Manny is by far the choice for P4P after Calzaghe retired and Floyd hung them up and Manny is the man now and has the right to say this is for p4p status and Cotto has earned his shot at that stature as well.

what are u 5 years old? feed the homeless GTFO with that shiet. he's gonna make a minimum 15-20 mill in this fight.
