I'm trying to work out who could win this, and so far I can't see who has the upperhand. Then I thought Pac's speed and power would be too much for Cotto, but then remembered Cotto dealing effectively with Shane Mosley's speed and power .
What has Pac got to offer that Mosley didn't to Cotto?
Punches coming from different angles is one I guess.
Cause Cotto has uncanny timing ability. If he can catch Pac and time his in and out movement he will punish Pac. That is the key to the fight.
But people are stupid and ignore this. On that note I'm wayy too drunk to argue over this fight any more tonight.
Exactly.......... but to be fair, there's a lotta IFs in this fight, we'll just have to wait and see.

Real astute observation and one that people don't see. Cotto's timing is exceptional and has even knocked fighters down with a mere jab as a direct result. Unlike his previous fights, Pac will get hit by a significantly heavier puncher and one can only wonder how he'll take the punch. Just how clean and how often will he get hit is ultimately what will determine the fight.
That being said, Cotto WILL get hit and will probably get hit first. The man simply does not move his head and just sits there and waits for an opening. He finds them often enough but with a target that darts in and out, he might get cut up by a two fisted blade.
Cotto's best chance at victory is, as mentioned by the above poster, to time Pac coming in. Then again, that's seems to be the common plan that everyone has coming into a fight with Pac. The problem lies in timing the speed and foot work combined with feints and rythm. Marquez had the perfect tools, but couldn't do enough damage. Cotto is stronger yet he doesn't have the defensive awareness that Marquez possessed.
Huge toss-up.
He has got to make sure he doesn't get caught like in the Judah fight. However, you won't see many better uppercuts than the one Judah threw.
I think once Miguel rides the first few rounds he'll punish Pac.

Its a case of the old "styles make fights" cliche. Which in this case is true.
Pacs volume straight punches and in-and-out style make it a tough fight for Cotto.
Pacs defence and head movement is much better than Moselys also.
But Cotto is a good boxer with good speed. He will be dangerous throughout the fight and will throw bombs to the body that Pac will have to take.
Should be great.
I'm start to lean towards Cotto based on that fact .
Yea that's the key. I mean, Pac's feet are insanely fast. I rarely have ever seen in and out movement like his. There is a good chance that Cotto will just not be able to catch up, and in that case Pac will beat his ass up.
BUT, there's also a good chance that Cotto will stick his jab while Pac's coming in, and that will be HUGE trouble for Pac.
The entire fight will be decided between rounds 4-6. If Cotto times Pac by those rounds he will stop Pac. If not, Cotto will probably get stopped.

Pacquiao's a southpaw...and Pac is faster on his feet than Shane. Shane's hands are what's still fast about him.
And Pac doesn't fight toe-to-toe for the whole fight(in and out) unlike Shane who fought the wrong fight against Miguel...
And Pacquiao isn't old and out of his prime...
With all that said I give Cotto a good chance due to the size advantage, him being a very good bodypuncher, and him having good timing...I still got Pac by decision
