I was told this week that serious talks have been rekindled for a fall fight between middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams, with HBO making a very strong offer. The question is, will the two camps, who don't exactly get along well, be able to agree on the split? We shall see, but my fingers are crossed because it's a great fight -- certainly a lot bigger than anything else either guy can legitimately make.

HBO stepped up, I'm hoping they can agree on the splits. This would be a war.
Split s are mostly determined by draw apability, wich WIlliams have non.
Giving Williams more than 30% of any split right now, is nonsense!!
Watch out! Its the DRAW Police!
Stop acting like a bitter bytch. U take ur sadness out on PW becuz he makes cotto look like a bytch for ducking him and claiming the belt just as soon as he vacated. We all forgot about that and u should too.
Give the man his fuking props and stop demeaning a real p4p champ!
Team PW can demand 50/50 becuz kp is getting peanuts according to him for that meaningless bout with sturm. HBO is putting up a bit of change for this proposed bout so he can take it or go and fight on that Latin Fury card.
PW looks to be a staple on HBO now. And he has the option to fight Diznurik for a belt.
Now they do. I've heard HBO is offering a lot of money for this fight. No excuse for it not to happen. If it gets messed up though, it probably isn't going to be Pavlik's fault. I know Arum is hard to deal with, but at the same time, it seems like Williams wants an unrealistic slice of the money when Pavlik has the title and is the bigger draw.
Yeah, Dan Rafael said it's a lot, but if Pavlik's camp found that $2 million for Sturm was lowballing and that's not even counting the German money that was to go with it.
If 50/50 was their opening offer, it means they'd be willing to accept less, 60/40 or 65/35 sounds good. Williams' team can't be stupid enough to think they deserve 50/50 because of a winning streak.
I thought Williams was negotiating Dzinziruk and Pavlik Sturm :wtf:
Both of those fights makes more sporting sense.
Anything that that doesn't involve Europeans is irrelevant in your book it seems like.
So it erases the Abraham duck? It should quiet down those duck claims, but that duck will always be there. I wouldn't say he's been ducking Williams yet, if you're referring to him though. Paul does want the fight and has made it known, but I remember the negotiations last September, and Haymon and Arum didn't have a big enough budget to work with.

If Pavlik is still hitting the sauce, he will lose. Pavlik better take his career seriously or he is going to end up getting hurt.
Say no to Jack Daniels son.

Boxing is a business and if they havent signed anything with anyone they're free to explore other options...
Out of all the guys to fight, I think Hopkins and Williams have the worst style for him. I dont know how they dont see it. If he makes this fight, their shouldnt be any more ducking claims.
Its a coin flip to me, they both have their own pros and cons. I think Pavlik is the best Willaims has ever fought but Williams isnt the best Pavlik has fought.

nice scrap.....I wanna see if P.Will can take a GOOD strong punch from a GOOD strong puncher......this fight will tell if P.Will is REALLY that dude his fans say he is.........I got him takin' Pavlik to school but there will come a time when Kelly is able to land.....how will P take it?!?......thats what I wanna see :boxing:
You may be on to something here. I like Paul Williams and I think he has went after the right fights that have been available to him for the most part. But it mystifies me how Goosen thinks this fight will happen under an even split between the fighters. WTF?
Have already said Goosen/Williams would be crazy if they think they deserve 50-50, So i wouldnt be surprise if the fight doesnt happen..
Please let this fight happen. Both fighters really need it and the fans have been clamoring for it.
I think Pavlik has a great chance against Paul, a lot of the Punisher's advantage in his career has been due to his size. It's easier to keep people off balance with your punch output when you're at least 3 inches taller than everybody and have a double digit reach advantage. Pavlik is bigger and only like 5 inches off Williams's reach.
I think Pavlik puts a ton of damage on Paul and either gets a late KO or decision.
williams trades to much, pavlik will win in a war
You think he would trade with Pavlik? LOL. He outboxes him and uses his superior speed/reach advantage.
