Am I missing something that I am not watching behind the scenes stuff about this kid?
Is he arrogant? Yeah, to some degree I say. But he is a Pro Athlete. Many are like that and he is young and he does seem to have calmed down a bit after being KTFO.
But he does seem more humble after the KO loss than before. He still hypes himself up a bit but again, he is a Pro Athlete in a sport where confidence is key. That same personality trait has helped him continue on after being KTFO in one of his fights (which could have ruined his confidence and ended his career).
After he was knocked out, he made the decision to not only continue on, but to go out and look for ways to improve...so he hopped on a plane and he came to L.A. to train with a new trainer, Freddie Roach. I haven't heard a bad thing (including any rumors) about Amir's work ethic or attitude in that gym but if anyone has anything on him, share.
And to much is made about his chin. If it is not the best, so what; he can't help it; that's the way he was born. But you are not born a Champion and that takes work and he has reached some level of status as a Pro boxer despite his weaknesses because he allows his strengths to protect his weakness to some degree (since we still have to look at the KTFO loss). Either way, not to bad.
He is very young and it tends to be a "good" thing for young boxers to get on the scene and do well.
But if there is anything I'm missing since I don't stalk the guy, please tell:
He don't come off as hated on here, just unforgiven. Lotta cats were on the bandwagon before Prescott iced him, and they ain't ready to forget it just yet, even if he did just win a title.
He may have to face Prescott again; as well as continue on winning. Big Name fights will help him out too. A key might actually be to face a big name fighter and when/if he gets hurt, rally back to victory in dramatic fashion. That tends to sway viewers.
Right now his job is to keep getting better, win, keep clean in and outside the ring, show character; and represent the sport well.
I hope he does well. He is young, wants to continue to improve, and seems like a good guy. Hopefully all is true because youth helps the sport.
He's not over-rated. Look how much abuse and criticism he gets on boxing forums. It's overwhelmingly anti-Khan.
Still, the haters keep on hating while Amir keeps getting richer.
You might need to read his post again, He was basically saying Khan is not overated

People are overrating the fact that Khan is overrated.

he's hasnt done enough in boxing to warrant being in ppv & getting title shots in a new division.
He's the european example of making a star before making a fighter.
U.S. versions are berto & gamboa.
This happnes a lot with british fighters due to the fact that sky sports has to make money so they have to hype up fighters so people will buy their product in turn they make money.
If he was white then he wouldn't warranty being a PPV star.
However because he is Pakistani and a Muslim, the dynamics are completely different. He brings in a whole new market, people from the sub-Indian continent want to see him fight, view him as a role model and want to be represented on a sporting platform. Amir brings that.
On the other hand you have the racists who want to see him sparked at any costs (he was booed at the Barrera fight and called a '****' by the same white British racists who said he wasn't 'British' enough) and will pay the money to see that happen.
Either way, there is a big market to see him and Warren has cashed in on that.
Immigrant boxers or those from ethnic minorities always tend to do well in boxing. Khan's situation is no different.
yoooooooooooooooo, benny
where you been bro? long time no see
I've been back for a short-while now. Was gone for some time because of some things I had to take care of...mostly work and travel.

.
You obviously didn't take Marketing 101 at college did you mate.
PPVs are market driven. If someone has enough market value to sell tickets and PPV buys, then they get on PPV, simple as that
YOu could have paid your dues 10 times over in a sport but if no one will pay to see you fight, whats the point.
Khan has never gone around saying "i better be on PPV, i better get this exposure, i better get that etc". If he had, then he deserves critiscm but he hasn't , the market has allowed him to earn money and that's not his fault.
He is way too overhyped, overated. The dude hasn't avenged his lose to Prescott and I wasn't impressed today. He is talented, fast, really good workrate but his accuracy is bad, really bad, I mean seriously. He won on workrate alone, what he really outboxed was Kotelnik's guard.
Who overrate him??? We the british boxing fan panned the guy at every opportunity we get, Dont mix-up someone been known like Khan to overrated, Because he's well-known doesnt mean he is overrated..
I also wasnt overly impress with him last night because he didnt land alot on Kotelnik but guess what neither did all the guys that fought Kotelnik in the past..

You dont have to achieve great things in pro-boxing to be on PPV, Khan like De la Hoya had the olympic thing that most casual fans see on TV, They had a story to them, So your arguement isnt right.
And not all british fighters are like that...

If he sells the PPVs, which he does, then yes, he has done enough to warrant being on PPV.
He won nearly every round in the title fight so the point is moot.
Khan's arrogant?
To some degree but it depends on how you view it. Each person and maybe even culture has a different way of seeing it. It is quite close to confidence if not a part of it from where I grew up. That's how people view it. Even I am seen as being a bit arrogant (depending on the person) even though I don't see it.
So for any successful person that feels he can rise to the top, expresses his opinions openly, and say, says he will be Champ before he becomes it...can show some level of arrogance. Is it Confidence? Of course but there is a fine line of both being blurred, used and felt.
Has he talked about any Big Name fighters that have already established themselves (even before he has established himself)?
Confidence or a level of arrogance?
But I didn't event the language so discuss :)
I wonder what those people who call him arrogant think of mayweather.. The kid has the heart to be great, he's confident, and has ambitions.. dn't really understand where the hate is coming from..
