Is Mayweather Good or Bad for Boxing?

Nope, we are just going to boycott Mister Boat Buyer and we are going to watch UFC on the 19th. I can't wait to hear his excuses, what is he going to do, blame Mexico? lol All the tickets that have been sold are from Marquez fans. I don't know of a single Floyd fan that purchased a ticket, does Floyd have any paying fans? That being said, having a good fighter like him in the sport doesn't exactly damage it. Don't get me wrong, Floyd is one of my least favourite fighters in the sport, and to be honest I don't care about his PPV numbers. Will I be buying it? Absolutely, I'd love nothing more than to see Floyd's first loss. I'm just not denying that over his career he's created quite a bit of excitment, a decent following, and I think just as many people are going to buy this to see him lose as there are to see him win. I know why I'm getting it.

Make no mistake. Boxing doesn't NEED Floyd. I don't like him personally, but will admit he's good for the sport. Boxing will do just fine with or without him. A lot of people seem concerned that boxing is dying. If you feel that strongly about boxing, and you're afraid it's going to fade out. Why not get as many mates as you can into it? Just remember back to January-May and think back to how many Mayweather threads were on here. Every one should think back to that time and this will answer the thread question. If i remember correctly 80% of threads every day were about Floyd. Good point, but i really think that he has made a royal ass out of himself these last two interviews with Brian Kinney. It does give boxing fans a bad taste when he opens his mouth and makes himself look like a fool.

Since floyd unretired,there has been so many canceled fights,bad omen no doubt!!:angel:Nah,seriously boxing doesn't need no one person,floyd or no boxing goes on!! Is Mayweather Good or Bad for Boxing? I think he could make the sport quite a bit better by just shutting his mouth and fighting the best. He still has a big mouth and he still has yet to face the best, I guess he is still bad for the sport. He wont be around much longer. I don't see this coward being around for more than one year. His next retirement/hidding from real welters will be his last, there will be no come back and if and when he does try to come back, he will be mopped and dropped like pig slop. :kiss:

His skill and accomplishments are good for boxing. It's his ego and moronic attitude that is bad for boxing.

Ofcourse he is good for the sport, I mean when he was out, he was still the most talked about fighter, regardless, having him back is better for the sport. Everyone complained about Floyd retiring in his prime, well he is back, nothing to complain about.

The sport has been FINE since he left. Until he fights the best in his own weight class he'll continue to be bad 4 the sport. Cosign homey.

Any fighter as talented as Mayweather is good for boxing.

well boxing will do just fine without him but you can't deny that he plays the man everyone wants to hate and because of that he does bring some extra attention to the sport. the mayweather that fought at LW and LWW was good for the sport, controversial and talented he attracted people to the sport. todays mayweather is cherry picking fights but to a certain degree mayweather is no more a hindrance to boxing as manny or bernard hopkins.
