I've noticed the welterweight division is kind of split into tiers at the moment

Do you think this is accurate? The superstars: These guys seem to kind of "transcend" weight divisions at the moment, and can pick and choose who they fight. The most high in demand fighters around in all of boxing, won't fight anyone lower than 'The top welterweights' in a million years - Mayweather Jr. - Pacquiao - Cotto (borderline) The top welterweights: They've set themselves apart from the rest of the welterweight division but can't move up any further unless a 'Superstar' allows them to - Mosley - Cotto The high risk guys: Could give anyone from 'The superstars' down a great fight, but unfortunately just lack name value for whatever reason, so find it difficult making the fights they may desire or even deserve. Probably should just busy themselves with each other or 'The stragglers' and hope for a promotion - Williams - Clottey (I think will slot into this description post-Cotto) The stragglers: Are not really taken seriously as top welterweights, are effectively at the mercy of the higher tiers and should take any scraps (pun not intended) that are thrown their way - Berto - Margarito The tune-ups: May be called upon at any time by a higher ranked fighter as an appetiser to a bigger event - Quintana - Cintron(?) - Collazo - Judah(?)

also, pac should not be included in WW rankings. pac is not a WW. i don't see him fighting any non-WWs except maybe Marquez from here on out

margo made cotto quit, so he should atleast be at the same level as cotto. or way above Cotto.

the problem is that there is no evidence for margo cheating against cotto, so you have to accept it as a legit win until there is evidence that he cheated in that fight. your sort of right in saying that, BUT it would seen rediculious from margos corner to use illeagal hand wraps against the then heavily underdog mosley, and not use them against the then "unbeaten" Cotto. i personally think he did use the plaster wraps in the cotto fight because his punches were doing so much more damage then any of his other fights, williams, clottey. and his non plaster wrapped hands against mosley done next to nothin to hurt shane. but only him and his team will ever know you have a point. margo's wins are suspect, but suspect isn't the same as illegitimate.

Agreed. I think you may have Margo too high. he lost a ton of credibility and he's not even fighting right now, so he is not in the mix for any fights. i think a Cotto rematch is very possible for 2010 though Cotto has an L coming his way, be it delivered by Pacquiao or Mayweather, and after that he's pretty much left with Mosley (who may be busy by then) and Margarito for the minute

Yep, reasonable enough to me. Makes me a bit sad and at the same time angry that we will probrably never see Floyd against Mosley which I think would be the fight that Floyd has most chance of losing. could happen if (a.) Floyd loses to a fellow 'superstar' or (b.) if he fails to secure a bout with Pacquiao or Cotto Mosley is pretty much at the back of the queue in that whole scenario but he may find an opening at some point over the next year and a half
