To danish tv2 Mikkel Kessler's trainer Richard Olsen today says that he's still unsure whether the SMW tournament will get off, but if it does he's certain that Kessler will win and that Kessler is roaring to go:
"Mikkel can not wait to get back in the ring. Mikkel beats them all as easy as scratching his ass. He would have to break an arm to lose. Some of the others might punch hard, but they are way to slow."
In other news in danish medias it would appear that nothing prevents Mikkel Kessler from participating in next weeks pressconference at MSG. It's further noted that promotor Mogens Palle won't be able to hinder Kessler in fighting Andre Ward in the US in November contractual dispute or not.
The line-up is good as it is. It's not the best but everyone should be very pleased if this tourney takes off. The winner will be boxings new superstar.
And for those you suggested neither is a SMW. I would rather have included Bute and Balsay so the winner would be undisputed champ.
Sorry Bat I am spoiled and want it all :D. Add Green, Pavlik, Dawson, Bute and Williams in there also. It will be fun. :D
Seriously Ward has no business in there. I understand Showtime's position though since some contenders and not actual belt holders would be cheaper!LOL
It would have been much more interesting with Pavlik, Green, Williams and Dawson added to the mix along with the rest already there.
4 real wild cards. That would be asking for too much though wouldn't it?

Since none of those three are currently campaigning at SMW, nor have they verbalized serious intentions to do so (like Abraham has), then yeah, that's asking for too much.

whats is impressive about kesslers resume? abraham is undefeated and has more defenses. miranda is better than mundine, beyer and andrarde.
abraham wouldn't be undefeated if he fought calzaghe, andrade would beat miranda too. mundine probably would too.
lol, i was thinking thats about as a bad a list as u can make, then timba like always stepped up and ****ed it ip even more.
1. abraham
2. froch
3. taylor
4. ward
5. kessler
6. dirrell
hahahahah too funny!

It's not the toughest part to make 10 defenses when fighting subpar opposition in a subpar division. I wouldn't put so much empasis in numbers rather in names and here Froch has Taylor and Pascal while Kessler has Siaca, Mundine, Beyer, Lucas, Andrade etc.
Abrahams resumée just doesn't compare.

Undefeated means nothing when your best win is Miranda and you have nothing else resembling an opponent on your resume. And it means less than nothing if you needed a gift from the judges to beat him the first time.

Kessler couldn't even stop Anthony Mundine.
SVEN OTTKE ko'd that wobbling mofo with one punch.
Kessler is NOT a puncher and he is there to be hit.
Get lost. Moron.
taylor has the best record of the bunch as far as Ws and competition is concerned. but we all know about his losses and flaws. second best record is abrahams, he is undefeated. he might never have fought at 168 but hes a huge guy. his promoter calls him a SMW fighting at MW. the move up will allow him to perform better than he has in years. remember the second miranda fight, this time he is likely to get even better.
Those losses definetely counts against Taylor as far as resumé is concerned. Abraham at no.2? That statement gave me a decent bellylaugh. His best win is Miranda.
Best resumées of the participants is either Froch or Kessler. Hands down.
I've been openly critical on AA for quite awhile saying he is beatable but I actually think it is a bad matchup for Taylor.
To me Taylor isn't smart enough to be selective with his punches in a fight with AA. He will find a way to wear himself out.
I really think he will be so wary of AA's power that he will be constantly moving and throwing a lot of useless punches into AA's gloves just to keep him occupied.
What Taylor needs to do is draw AA into throwing, make him miss, and counter. Taylor counters with his jab over wild rights hands as well as anyone in boxing. That could be a weapon but I just don't see JT holding it together for 12 rounds.
There will always be a fear for Taylor not lasting the distance I suppose. He just nearly did against Froch and that might have taught him a thing or two about pacing himself. AA is so sloppy and takes rounds off that I see a real possbility for Taylor to master the undefeated german.
I've watched that fight several times, including the post fight interviews and reading Dibella's comments afterwards in the press conference, and I really don't remember Shilstone's name coming up at all.
dont know what to tell you, it did.
So Abraham, who's never fought at SMW, who doesn't even have a great MW win, ranks above everyone at 168? :wtf1:

Trust me, hes not smart enough. Ive seen him fight live, he just looked so confused towards the end of the Froch fight. I think he can do well in the first 6 or 7, but Abraham will finish it in the 11th or 10th IMO.
