Do fighters care less about legacy now

yea i have..i started boxing at 12 Really? Did you have any amateur fights? Did you quit for a while?

what annoys me about some boxers is when they're questioned about possible future opponents and they say ' its up to the promoter' or 'i'll fight whoever is put in front of me' - these are the guys who should be saying i want so and so. these are the guys who hide behind the promoter (i.e. kelly pavlik), i guess some of them see it as a sign of humility and respect (i.e pacman, cotto) but others say it with the intention of hiding behind politics and promoters as reasons for not making fights. a recent example of this is joe, hew was extremely passive in his matchmaking in his earlier days but post lacy he pushed through the fights with kess and hopkins which are his best wins. just look at the career of eddie chambers, he weighed in at 208 for the fight with dimi and even then looked like he could lose 10lbs of fat quite easily, now if he was to drop down to CW i think he would be a superstar in that weight division. he is too cute, too slick and too quick for the majority of CW's and at that weight his weight, reflexes, power, conditioning and balance would all improve. yet he won't drop down because of the money at HW.

but being a fighter myself, i know were abraham is coming from. a world title means alot to fighters. I understand your point like I said before but there is a serious hollowness to that type of behavior weather it is their fault or not. abraham for many top fighters around his weight may be to much risk and not enough reward but regardless the his last few opponents speak for themselves

I rather a real fighter with defeats on his record but still getting in there with the best then paper champions...

Since when does a belt really mean anything these days fans love fighters who fight quality oppents not guys who hang on to a belt like a life preserver for cash. but being a fighter myself, i know were abraham is coming from. a world title means alot to fighters.

abraham has tried to fight sturm and pavlik so you can exclude his name...and fighters back in the day didnt make the money fighters make now..when people get done with it..boxing is just a job..and if a fighter can make more taking less risk hell...i cant blame them..who would take less money to fight someone when more money is offered else where??? no you can't exclude him look at his last few opponents and I really ike abraham but yes he s falling into this category

No they dont. Its more about how much they can make now than what will people think of me later.They dont chase belts like they used to they chase who can give them the biggest payday.

The fighter who cares most about legacy in boxing today is Anthony Mundine. Mundine's always wanting to cermet his legacy and wants to be remembered as one of the very best ever and he is always fighting the best.................:lol1::lol1::lol1:

Mainly guys like sturm abraham eridi is the most grievious offender. Abraham's been wanting kelly and sturm forever. So you can't include the king on here. He even wants to go up and fight Bute but hbo isn't willing to give them more money

I don't many ever gave a sh*t about 'legacy'. They were too busy trying to make a living. As to 'quality opponents', maybe they ought to get off their butts and travel to Eastern Europe or Germany and prove it.
