Sandy Sadler is even more underrated than Nelson.
The guy had 104 KO's and was only stopped once, and that was in his second fight as a pro.
He KO'd Willie Pep,Joe Brown, and the best Pinoy fighter ever Flash Elorde.
Flash Elorde > Manny Pac
Elorde did have some very impressive wins, competed against the best featherweights, super featherweights and lightweights, reigned as the super featherweight champion for 7 years, but he was somewhat inconsistent.
There better be videos Machine
Unfortunately no film exists of Tiger Flowers and probably very little does of Tendler, Miller, Corbett and Lytell.
Film of "Flash" Elorde:
Vicente Saldivar vs Howard Winstone:
i think the dude who brought the MP is the best southpaw thing is referring to MP's achievements/resume more than his actual skills inside the ring...
anyways, our favorite sport is unlike diving or figure skating where judges assess the athlete in terms of aesthetic performance as just u have stated with whitaker...
if thats the case, finito lopez, PBF, ivan calderon, whitaker and/or donald curry would be on the very top of any ATG lists...
but its not... a fighter is ultimately judged by the caliber of his opponents, the circumstances that fighter fought under, and his actual achievements...
If thats the case, Whitaker, Hagler still > Pacquiao.
In no way is Pacquiao a better south paw. I really don't know about old old old school fighters, so I wouldn't know how to rate all the other great south paws in the history of boxing but I'm smart enough to know that Pacquiao isn't as good as Hagler or Whitaker.

There were a couple of great ones but for the most part all southpaws were converted orthodox until lately. Hagler and Whitaker were two of the best, Pacquiao might come third. He has surpassed his countryman Flash Elorde in my opinion.
Vicente Saldivar, Tiger Flowers, Lew Tendler, Freddie Miller, Young Corbett III, Bert Lytell were all notable southpaws.

Also Whitaker can fight with his back against the ropes, going backwards, in the inside. I mean a great inside fighter like JCC resorted to hitting Whitaker's thighs just to slow him down, want to know what happend? Whitaker whopped JCC's ass on the inside and had him breathing like a fat bitch by the 7th or 8th. Whitaker's body punching is very underated, this 5'5 1/2 little guy faught much bigger man, JCV, JLR, Tito, DLH, Hurtado, JCC and the list goes on and on.
Hagler could also fight going backwards, had good defense and can even fight out of an orthodox stance. Really good hand speed for a M.W.

the 126 version of MP was still very raw, the 1st barrera fight notwithstanding...
AN on the other hand went toe to toe against the great sal sanchez and fvckin KOed PR legend bazooka gomez...
AN was a proven commodity @ 126 highlighted by with wins over marc villasana, a very underrated fighter...
@ 126, i hav to pick AN over MP...
i honestly feel that a prime AN would exactly do the same thing MP had been doing lately...
the guy has had a great resume/achievement/longevity...
Mr. Nelson is among the most underrated ATGs IMO...
Not to take anything away from Salvador Sanchez (Greatest Mexican fighter in my opinion) but Azumah only had 13 fights, he was still very inexperienced. Sad that Salvador died, would have loved to have seen a rematch.
Another thing, Pacquiao isn't the greatest south paw. Coming up, all he had was a 1-2, with his left straight being his money punch. Recently, he has developed a right hook. Where as, Whitaker and Hagler had every punch in their arsenal.

*sighs*
i dont recall pernell beating chavez/oldh/trinidad... lost most of his biggest fights
Pernell was way past his prime against Tito and as a matter of fact, although he was past it, he put up a really good fight. Also, Pernell beat JCC clearly and you can't even debate that. Not only that, he outlanded DLH and I myself believe he won that and so did alot of people.
You can't even name a better fighter on Pacquiao's resume better then Azumah Nelson or JCC. You're very biased man, seriously.
a fight breakdown is subjective, so is the thread... you can have your opinion on the fight, let me have mines
i dont recall saying pac would ko sanchez, i do thou with lopez. just now actually
azumah is a great boxer, but manny is the greatest southpaw of all time
:haha: :haha: :haha:
he asked u to explain your opinion. when u say pac by KTFO without being able to provide an explanation other than "pacman is the greatest southpaw of all time" (which he isnt) it makes u look like a retarded nuthugger who knows jack shit about boxing.
