Juan Manuel Lopez is being hyped way too much

he is still young & has defeated a tough as nails in-prime ponce de leon... i think he is luckier than victor ortiz in a certain way...

This kid looks like he could be the real deal. He certainly has the tools to be a star. But how about we wait on crowning him the next Felix Trinidad until after he beats a champion or two? He has an impressive win over Daniel Ponce De Leon. That win showed me he made it to the next level as far as no longer being a prospect. But as far as being next in line as the pay per view star or p4p future number 1 fighter, that stuff needs to be put on old. People are basing Lopez as being the real deal after stopping a fringe Cesar Figueroa, beating Sergio Martinez who took a dive, and Grandpa Penalosa who is 35 years old. His last win against Oliver Lontchi he also looked great but once again against inferior competition. Lontchi is a C level fighter at best who built his record fighting in Canada. Am i the only one who was not blind? Jesus Mtagwa should have been stopped or beaten by easy decision by a guy who is suppose to be on the brink of p4p top 10. I told you guys his competition made him look better than he really is. Hope you all were put back into reality.

Im putting ALOT of faith on this kid, he hasnt had the chance to prove me right but im confident he will. This is a guy who is gonna do great things, he's headed for the Hall of Fame mark my words I dont tend to hype fighters, i never bought into that Ortiz shit or many of the hyped fighters but with Lopez i feel we have a special fighter emerging

You should understand that in PR, boxing is the main sport, and he's getting the attention here and some call him the next Trinidad but just in the sense that he's humble and very accessible and he'll be very successful. Like TredKiller said, he's not a hype job.

People are only calling him the next Trinidad because he is a very popular puerto rican fighter, with a very outgoing and exciting personality like trinidad. There are no skill comparisons because they are completely different fighters. Personally i feel that Lopez could potentially be a far more well rounded fighter then Trinidad was. Trinidad could be outboxed, we dont know if Lopez can be outboxed. And Trinidad wasnt the same fighter going backwards. Lopez has shown he can fight goin both ways. Juanma is hyped but it's not like it isn't well deserved. The guy shows awesome skills and has straight up devastated everybody he has been in with. I have followed him for quite some time and he has shown a great range of ability. He can blow you out with one punch power, outwork you with a variety of punches and he can pick you apart with his ability to counter with sound timing. This place would be dreadful if people didn't hype up fighters to some degree. Yeah it's hard to read a few of the more ridiculous statements out there but mostly it helps fuel the board. Nobody is hyping Juanma. People here don't even talk about him so he is not getting hype at all. :lol1:
