Samurai is the only Calzaghe fan here with something called Common sense.
His is the only opinion i respect because it's not base on Nationalism, (Majority of Joe's fan base is in UK, and in some cases White nationalists).
So Samurai, where do you rate RJJ, Hopkins, Joe, and throw in Toney too
Well i honestly don't know a ton of boxing history, so i will have to rate Joe based on Mayweathers formula, so he is Second ATG
1)Marciano
2)Calzaghe
3)Mayweather
However Marciano and Calzaghe are retired, so they will remain at 1&2 because of their undefeated records, Mayweather could drop off the list completley if he loses a single fight.
Too Hard to place him on an ATG list because he mainly fought in a historically weak division. Now he would be top 5, 168 lb'er since the division came to life for sure IMO. All time though it would just be a silly guess.
He does belong in the HOF for sure though.
All time greats have over 100 fights..

lol?
Ruiz was No.1 champion when he became World HW Champ?
Does that you mean you rate Douglas higher than Tyson?
He beat a 44 year old, he could be p4p1 for all i care, if you're passed it, you're passed it.
In terms of acheivment, Hopkins>RJJ>Cal
Not at all.. Or I wouldn't put RJJ ahead of him on an ATG list.. The ONLY reason I would, is cos Roy went through the weights.. Maybe it was Roids.. I don't know 4 sure..
I say Caz does em both whenever.. The only reason Hopkins is called a 'Freak' is cos he got better with age.. So Joe beats a young B/Hop with greater ease..
All time greats have over 100 fights..
That puts Jones, Hopkins & Calzaghe out of it..
ROUGHLY... Caz ends up just below Jones & just above Hopkins.. As said before B/Hop was P4P #2 when Caz beat him...

yea you were wrong the first time so why would you repeat it? hopkins was 4th and calzaghe got a gift decision.

The English so desperately want to have their own legend.
Lennox Lewis.
Calzaghe isn't English.
It wouldn't be totally unrealistic if someone was to put Calzaghe in their top 100 ATG's list. He would be far closer to 100 than 1, obviously.

Fat Yank :notworthy I was just joking, man. Take it easy. I know Joe Cal is a top ATG; maybe, as you claim, even THE very greatest of all time. I just figured that since England already had so many fighters in the ATG top ten (Lennox, Frank Bruno, Naseem, Hatton, Eubank...:haha: ) that we should leave some room for some other fighters.
Im glad you agree. :biggthump
Fagzaghe on the ATG List?
LMFAO.
I remember when BoxingScene writers had Calzaghe on the ATG list but Shane Mosley wasn't, and you guys know who has done what.
calzaghe is welsh.
english people don't brush their teeth and are arrogant.
the welsh have nothing to be arrogant about and though they brush their teeth they smell of sheep.
Yes, I get that he's from Wales and that the English have bad teeth, but is it really just Welsh fans on this forum lobbying relentlessly for him to be considered an ATG? It sure seems that every Brit, of every stripe, is so desperate to get this guy acknowledged as a legendary ATG fighter. I know you think its just us Fat Yanks who aren't impressed, but that really isn't the case. Calzaghe as legend is a myth anywhere but in the UK.
