He is a world class fighter. I thought he beat Kotelnik by at least three rounds, but Germany doesn't let some people win. He should be undefeated and a champ. Maybe Ortiz was never going to be P4P elite, or maybe two elite 140 pound power punchers met and one of them had to be stopped. I just don't get how losing so competitively to such a good fighter could be being exposed. Same with Diaz versus Campbell and countless others before.
okay super featherweights since you want to get technical. :nana:
Technically they weren't old either:banana:
yet you had calzaghe beating hopkins when the same exact thing happened. seems like whatever the white euro is doing=win in your mind. if he's blocking and counterpunching he's outboxing the other guy but if he's throwing a lot of punches he's winning on workrate. giant hypocrite!
:owned:
Kotelnik clearly beat Maidana. He was blocking most of Maidana's punches and was landing counter punches at will, he used his superior technical skills to outbox Maidana and win a well deserved decision....Great fight!

Neither Mayweather nor Forbes were ever featherweights, their lowest weight was 130, you know like Oscar.
Molina, Hernandez, fought a total of 3 fights at featherweight and Genaro was undefeated when he fought Oscar. Pernell, Tszyu, and Mayweather all fought those old featherweights you mentioned and Mosley fought 2 of them, but we all know how big of a pussy they are.
ortiz wasn't in there with old featherweights. :)
Hoya never fought an old featherweight, let alone make a career out of it, hater. He started at 130 so if he had, he'd have an excuse for it anyway.
Oh and if you're referencing one of the greatest 140 pounders ever (JCC) he never fought at featherweight :nana: .
No big deal?
For anyone else that would have been a great showing, but for the former next big thing, it's a huge deal.
Ortiz was supposed to be the next Golden Boy with the whole package, Oscar didn't lose until 7 years, 4 divisions, and 5 titles in. I was even touting him as head and shoulders above the 140 pound division (sans Pac btw). He should have found a way to win this fight because other than MP the division is full of B fighters.
Your right, losing to him doesn't matter.
Losing doesn't matter, its what you do after the loss. Maybe Ortiz will get over his mental weakness and come back strong and ready? However dont jump the gun if he knocks out a nobody.
I guess we'll never see a Pacquiao vs Vicious Victor Ortiz, anytime soon or ever with Ortiz's recent loss. Golden Boy's stable for candidates for taking down Pacquiao is getting smaller and smaller. And the ones that are still there, marquez and mosely, are getting older and older. Hopefully they don't lose their next fights so Golden Boy can build them up, and then Pacquiao takes them down!!!
He turned around the fight with those clinches Victor did not have an anwser after that.
what the **** is he a fighter for if he has no answer for just clinches? are you saying that clinches are more effective than punches?
I enjoy the style of Ortiz. But when you fight like that, you better be able to to take a Trinidad-Mayorga style beating and then laugh. Ortiz doesnt have it in him to make it the hard way. He will never be elite.
A world class fighter only throws right hands the majority of the fight and never uses the jab? :trink26:
Maidana is a tough fighter, but he is more of a brawler than a boxer. He has alot of flaws, and alot of his flaws were shown early in the fight when Victor elected to be the boxer and not try to be the brawler against a brawler. When Ortiz decided he could brawl with Maidana, that is when he started getting hit by punches he didn't need to be hit by.

Its the way Ortiz lost. Instead of clintching and figuring out how to stop his opponent's right hand.. when he got ruffed up in there.. he quit. Championship fighters do not do that. He lost the desire to win, when he had an opportunity to turn the tide in his favor again. He needs to add dimensions to his game.. he was exposed tonight IMO.
