Who thinks DLH should return ?
Im a bit of a DLH fan at heart, and i cant help but think that DLH is calling it a day to soon, its not that i think he is still on the level he was, he is getting hit more and his reflexes dont look as sharp, but he did fight a very good fight against Mayweather albeit he lost the fight, he did not look THAT bad against Forbes and the loss to Manny can be attributed to the fact he was making 147 for the first time in 10 years. DLH's performance against Mayweather,Forbes and then his performance against Pacquiao can draw parallels with Mosley's loss to Cotto and Mosley's horrible performance when he fought Mayorga, only Shane fought on and he managed to restablish himself by whooping Margartio.
Whats to say DLH could not win another world title at 154 ? he would be more suited to the weight and he will be in a division that is wide open right now. Im not saying he would win a title but lets be honest DLH is not as far gone as Roy Jones is, and he could concievable still have what all great fighters have left in them " one last great performance" if DLH was to win another title it might only be an ABC belt, but it would at the very least restore some of his dignity even if was to retire after it.
Where would Holyfield be if he called quits after Bowe 3 ? he would never have had those great wins over Tyson. Holfield was 34 at the time i think.
I might be clutching at straws but i dont like to see a great fighter go out on a loss like that.
Remember Oscar you are a long time retired.
Poll coming.
PS what about Hopkins vs Pavlik ? i know people like to make out that Hopkins winning was not that much of a shock, but i had bets with people on here that said he would not only lose that fight but get stopped for the first time.
I honestly want Oscar to come back for a farewell fight. I still think he has what it takes to compete at 154.
It was disheartning seeing a great like that get pummeled, especially when you knew that 5-6 years ago that wouldn't have been the case.
It's also kind of sad that he was targeted for his vulernabilities due to his age by a former trainer. Something about that just seems so horrible. I would like Oscar to go out with a bang, I'm not entirely sure he is fully done. But if he truly believes what he says that he just doesn't have it no more, no sense in going out and getting hurt.
Nice post.
Looks like we are in the minority :lol1:
Fukk him. I lost all respect for Oscar when he chose to pick on little manny, the bully ended up getting brutalized.
Then why do you respect Hopkins?? You know he picked on more "smaller" people than Oscar.
The guy has done alot for the sport of boxing, but I don't think he has it anymore, he became a business man and left the boxer to the side a little bit too soon and Millie don't want him to fight anymore,LOL, but if he was to come back he should meet at a catchweight with Tito Trinidad, I have always worder what would have been the outcome of a remach of them two "Both ATG's"
i'd love to see him back because i've enjoyed watching him fight and i think beyond that he's a good person. a real crowd favorite and pleaser...its makes the sport exciting to have him involved...which i believe he still will be under GBP but as far as in the ring goes i think his time is winding down.
i think he'll return for a fight or two but nothing serious like climbing the ranks again...just maybe a payday or two...or maybe just for a big fight that would help out his legacy but as far as im concerned his legacy is sealed.
sure it would have helped if he beat floyd and pacman but the sport usually doesnt work that way...
you come in on the bottom...you MAY (obviously majority dont) reach the top (or close to it) but you usually end somewhere further down...most dont retire on top because they push the issue of being the best and somewhere down the line fall out of their prime and lose...
everyone wants to go out on top and as fans we'd like to see great fighters finish in the same place that we loved seeing them climb to but it rarely happens.
its sad but i think we all need to realize he's older now and his time is almost up.
it might just be time for the new golden boy...whoever that may be.

he needs to give his boxing equipment to roger so roger can pour gasoline on it and dump it in the trash.
dlh had no business getting beat up by a midget.

Gotta give you props for that Pullcounter! :fing02:
I think he should stayed retire, the guy has a great resume, fought everybody, extremely successful, healthy, has a family and has GBP to run. The guy is 35 now and I don't think he has anything else to prove, he has had a great career that I for one respect even though I aint much of a fan... he should stick to running GBP IMO.

He doesn't have the passion or fire. You could see him slowly start to crumble after he knew he couldn't even catch Pacquiao.
Instead of going for broke he curled up and quit. He said it best, "I don't have it anymore."
