Berto-Collazo II in the works!
By Lee Bates
WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman sent a letter to the parties of WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (25-0,19 KOs) and former WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo (30-4,15 KOs) to begin free negotiations of a rematch on their January 17th bout of earlier this year. This ruling had been decided at the last WBC Convention that was held in Chengdu, China. If no agreement is reached then the WBC will conduct a purse bid offer on July 17th at the WBC offices in Mexico City. Berto narrowly defeated Collazo by decision in their bout. Each fighter has had one fight since then. Berto easily decisioned Juan Urango last month, while Collazo to keep busy stopped journeyman David Gogichaishvili this past weekend.

in the first fight i was fairly impartial about who i wanted to win, i might have chosen berto because he was a good young fighter who was trying to make hi wasy. since thne however he hasn't looked to take on the big dogs and looks like he would be out opf depth.
i hope whoever wins starts to take on the best fighters and actually shows some ambition by trying to make bouts with clottey, williams, or even SSM
There is still no deal in the works and no ink on the table. Its obvious that Berto's people are avoiding Collazo and looking to cash in on a more lucrative fight outside the WBC.
I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, but I'd like to see him go up against someone like Clottey or Quintana eventhough he is supposed to be fighting yorgey.
From his twitter 4 hours ago.
Andre Bertothere is no truth about a rematch right now its just all talk iam tryin to fight bigger better fights like Shane so dont believe everything

Luis got robbed the 1st time he deserves the belt not a rematch since he won in the 1st place.
How was that fight a robbery? It was Berto who was tearing Collazo up with those body shots. And Collazo had a decent size cut over his eye as well and he lost the last two rounds. It was a close fight, but a rematch would be no different, and that's why Dibella is having Berto fight this guy again. Dibella is terrified of putting Berto in with someone with pop.
Its about time Luisito deserves the shot!!!!
Yeah, but only because he made it close last time, but not convincingly enough to win. You gotta take it from the champ- you know the rules...
Every other time he's gotten his "deserved" shot, he's come up short.. Idk why everybody acting like he's Mr. Hard Luck.. He aint no Josh Clottey.
Can we leave Andre Berto alone now? I feel like the forum has been overly harsh on him, but he's taking the fight that everybody thought he should take.
Callazo deserves a chance...... I thought the last fight could have gone either way more to Callazo. Berto gots great speed but never been impressed by him.
I think HBO would definately sign up for this fight.
do the fighters fight for the same amount of money as the first fight, or do they get more?
hbo is probably gonna pay the same amount, if anything berto should take a little less this time around..
