It can be either with real money, or just with worthless points here at BS.
I am just curious how often people do it, and how they feel when they do it, especially when its real money on the line.
Its something that I honestly try to avoid as I am pretty passionate about the boxers I cheer for.
Yea if you feel that way you should probably avoid gambling on fighters that mean something to you. This is not a bad thing aslong as you recognize it, betting with your heart in boxing will get you annhilated so best to avoid that.
I NEVER bet on matches in which my favourite fighters are fighting (neither for or against). Betting is a serious thing, especially when it's with money. It's also a pragmatic thing, concerning logic, and has little to do with one's own convictions. Records, tales of the tapes, styles etc. are the things that really affect the outcome of a fight. Betting with ones' heart distorts perceptions, and at the end of the day, it's not clever. (I learnt this from making football bets as a Man City fan)
I have done it myself a few times.... I just don't like it....
I just feel too conflicted. When I have done it it was usually a fight I knew they were likely going to lose anyway, but still.
I am too fanatical about boxing, and too fanatical about money
I don't let the two worlds cross when it comes to the fighters I like the most.

I only bet against fighters I like if they are fighting another fighter I like. I didnt know who to root for for Taylor-Pavlik until someone offered me a bet on Taylor so I took Pavlik. Whats weird is I started liking Pavlik more than Taylor just off of that not because of the performance.
There is a difference between betting (trying to win or determine the outcome of a match) and rooting. I will always root for my favorite fighters but that does not always mean I will always bet on them to win. That is blind nut hugging. You have to be realistic.

Whenever the odds dictate that I do so and I think it has a reasonable chance of paying off. There is no loyalty when it comes to gambling, atleast if you want to really try and make money at it.
i bet all the time with Cotto and Juan Ma but is just like $20 or so
and it feels very good to win money:boxing:
2 things to celebrate
1. the victory
2. the money u just made:boxing:
