I immediately thought of jack dempsey, mike tyson and george foreman.
george foreman didn't like inflicting pain, but you can't hold that against him. He didn't like inflicting pain because that meant his opponent was still alive.
The famous sports columnist jim murray wrote what I believe was an obituary for jack dempsey entitled "dempsey was the meanest." He has to be in the running.
And then of course mike tyson who needs no introduction in this category.
Pernell Whitaker always had a mean streak. Whether it was punishing Poli Diaz, pulling down Roger Mayweather's trunks in the ring, bludgeoning a virtually unconscious Dio Hurtado with a volley of left hands, etc.
Yeah that was baaad, the ref should of gotten in a lot quicker because Whitaker was essentially beating a helpless man senseless.
What is that Hopkins KO where he hits the guy and the guy goes limp/frozen on the spot in the centre of ring and THEN when Hopkins realizes that he is hurt him he jumps in and cracks him with an uppercut or something knocking him out flat.
I think it was Lipsey fight i could be wrong though.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler wins this hands down. Which other fighter would do road work while mumbling to himself "Destruction and Destroy on my mind". He really was the meanest.

hagler and pryor were pretty mean in the ring. duran always liked to punish his opponent but for me hopkins stands out.
hopkins has a sadistic side to him that i just don't see in other fighters.
hopkins didn't have power neither which actually makes it worse, the likes of tyson, foreman and benn were mean but hopkins lack of power meant the torture was prolonged and he'd enjoy every minute of it.
sadisitic is the best word i can think of describe it.
Who were the meanest fighters inside the ring? The guys who took pleasure from inflicting pain and often times in dragging it out?
Ali and Tyson springs to my mind.

Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler. And they still acted pissed off after the fight lol
I'm surprised it took 7 pages to mention Margarito. Smiling after taking shots and walking forward for more is badass and he just looks like he loves to punish inside the ring.
I read about it in a Sports Illustrated Article entitled "The Champion of Confusion". You can find it on a google search if you want.
It talks about his personal and professional problems and how some of the big fights fell through. He ended up getting shot by his wife which messed up a unification bout with Mamby, wasn't happy with $500k for a SRL fight, managerial issues screwed up a Duran bout. His manager also got arrested for embezzlement which didn't help his career.
Thanks for that info, I appreciate it.
