Is Cotto picking on Pac?

Of course cotto is picking on pac! Yes, pac has fought over 140 lbs (142 to be precise), BUT that doesn't make him a legit WW.. Yes, cotto looked vulnerable against margo, clottey, mosley, BUT pac don't have the size of these 3 guys to hang with cotto. Cotto has said he wants the fight and he has said he's willing to go down to 145 lbs to make it happen. Pac didn't go to MSG to scout cotto, he went to support mayol, and @ the insistence of bob arum to get pinoys to show up to the event. Team pac never wanted cotto, pac has been on record saying he wants floyd, he has never said he wanted anyone else (ie cotto, mosley, etc), but that he is open for anybody. And as far as I know, pac and roach have never publicly said make the cotto fight happen, only arum has said it publicly and he's the guy that was pushing for this fight from day 1. Even the latest news on pac has pac wanting to fight floyd in november. Yes, jmm challenged pbf, but pbf didn't have to accept that challenge. Same thing applies to cotto; arums said pac told him to make the fight happen, but cotto doesn't have to accept that challenge. Cotto should say straight up: "fight me at 147 lbs or stay @ 140 lbs". If cotto makes this fight he is betting on being the bigger guy, same as floyd. Pac's a great fighter, but cotto is just too big. The question is whether or not Marquez would be able to perform at a high level at a weight he's never fought at before. Pacquiao's done it twice already successfully, so it should come as no surprise to anyone if he does accept and fight a Mosley or Cotto. Plus, he'd be fighting arguably the best WW in Boxing next to Shane Mosley, not Luis Collazo (who is a good fighter in how own right, but not at the elite level) and Pac's camp were the ones who told Arum to make the fight happen. Its Apples and Oranges compared to Floyd and Marquez. Pac has shown and proved. i disagree with you when you say that it is apples and oranges. Floyd is bigger fighting a smaller guy, they call it being a bully. Cotto is the bigger fighter fighter a smaller guy, therefore if the former is a bully, then the latter is a bully as well. that is what people are saying and that is what i am saying by starting this thread. Its does not matter if JMM has not fought at 144 before, its the fact that he is smaller and Floyd is bigger. JMM is contractually attached to fighting floyd, cotto just beat rugged clottey, and pacquiao is partnerless. no one in 140 deserves pacquiao at this moment. the only logical fight is cotto vs pac. cotto is picking on smaller, and when they step on that ring it's going to show, cotto wins a la quintana.

I just read that guy Mangler's sig and it say that Floyd was being a school yard bully by fighting JMM. Since it has been anounced, the Mayweather-Marquez fight has been ripped apart. On the contrary, the knowledgeable boxing fan can see that Cotto is MUCH better than PacMan. So I ask this question, if Mayweather is picking on JMM, is Miguel picking on Pacman? I've been telling people since late last year that Cotto vs Pacquiao could potentially be made. The idea that people have about Cotto going in and being too big and too strong for Pacquiao to me proves they haven't done their research. Pacquiao is the 1st of his generation to move as quick as he is through different weight divisions and being successful. Henry Armstrong was doing this over 60 years ago. I believe many people will be surprised how more evenly matched these two are beyond looking at who's gonna cut 2 or 3 lbs and THAT be the deciding factor in the fight. Pacquiao's moved up and gotten stronger and more well rounded. People will throw excuses left and right about Oscar's condition or Hatton being shot, but did Pacquiao look like he was missing a step? Not in my eyes. I'm a big Cotto supporter, and am giving a slight edge to Pacquiao (even at 147).

I don't like Floyd asking Marques to come up to 147 but like they say... careful what you wish for. The same goes to Pac.

pac has proven to be as good as he's ever been when he thrashed osc at welter.the issue is can marquez be as effective as pac was at welterweight.who knows.but he's fighting the former number 1 p4p, who started his career at superfeather.personally, i didn't see weight being an issue with may and marquez.other have, i just don't think it's a big deal.
