Does Clottey deserves an IMMEDIATE rematch?

V webb as a mayweather fan do you think may turns down big money mega fight for bragging rights or to prove himself. If Floyd fought a guy right now and it was too close, he would give the guy a rematch. I say that because he has been in a situation where he was questioned if he really beat JCC. To PROVE himself, he fought him IMMEDIATELY and beat JCC again.

No you deserve a rematch if the fight is close or something happens against your favour. If Cotto lost the match, I'd say he deserved a rematch because one he should have won the fight and two he had a severe cut above the eye. If you cannot convincingly beat someone who is fighting with one eye I don't think you have grounds to say you deserve a rematch. Start from scratch and earn the right to fight said person again.

Though I picked Miguel to TKO Clottey in 9, Cotto needs to MAN up and give this guy an IMMEDIATE rematch. Real talk. It was a good fight in which I though Clottey won but it was indeed close. 116-111 is horrible! Any TRUE boxing fan knows that the fight was NOT to be scored in that manner. Yes, Clottey deserves an IMMEDIATE rematch. When you lose a super bowl in a close game, do you immediatly get a rematch? NO! Of course he deserves a rematch but i wouldnt say immediate i mean every boxer looks for that fight that not only will make big money but can elevate your status and this is that fight . But wat really interrests me is what two fighters will be left standing . Cotto & floyd , Pac & Floyd! this is getting good!!!

The Oscar vs Quartey scenario is a good example why Clottey won't get a rematch (right away at least). Quartey was a great opponent, but Trinidad was waiting on the other end. Oscar would've been a fool not to take the Tito fight. Now I agree Quartey put up a better fight down the stretch than Clottey did with Cotto as far as staying busy. Clottey IMO will get fights though, and I'm hearing he wants Paul Williams?? Interesting...

I'm not comparing the quality of the fighters I'm comparing the situations. Cotto is the top Welterweight in the world (arguably) and one of the best fighters in the world today. The three most talked about fighters in the sport today are Floyd, Pacquiao and Cotto. Cotto is going after the biggest star in the sport today in Pacquiao, as opposed to rematching a very good, yet less marketable name in Clottey. Much like Oscar went after a huge fight in Trinidad as opposed to another good, but less attractive rematch with Quartey. If you don't get it I don't know if I can say anything else to help you. Clotteys job as a challenger is to take away Cottos title. Cotto has to defend it. Cotto fought 8 rounds with a huge cut and didnt complain once. He couldve easily went to the scarecards took his payday and call it a defense. he gave people thier moneys worth and defended it with heart. Clottey fought a disabled Cotto and still couldnt overcome cotto and take his titlle away. During the entire gfight he took every out he had to try and get a rest in. CLottey needed rounds 11-12 but he didnt throw enough punches.To give the fight to clottey would be robbery. The superior fighter that night Cotto and to say he deserves an immediate rematch is horrible given Cotto defended his title. If Cotto lost it then he has the right to reclaim it. You dont get two shots at athe title if you lost the first time. He needs to work his way back up Good post.....

who had more low blows or fouls in this fight?!?......has Cotto EVER been in a fight that he didnt hit low?.......just askin' :cool2: Of course he has more than usual low blows he tends to go to the body sooo much and majority of his opponents are taller. I cannot believe how many anti-cotto fans there are. I myself am a cotto fan but i respected margarito(before mosley) for how he fought cotto and others. I respect pacman for going up and up and up, i respect other fighters as i respect cotto. There are some people here that cannot do that, no matter who cotto beats. SAD !

Bigger fight, more money, more reason to go in another direction. Similar to what Cotto may be doing with Pacquiao. Quartey is one of my favorite fighters of all-time. The comparison was valid. people critisize floyd for castillo but floyd won a ud and gave him an immediate rematch..cotto was outlanded in compubox in this fight as well and won a sd..rematch cotto rematchGosh....you guys just dont understand why he doesn't deserve a rematch. Castillo was the champ when he faced mayweather, and PBF was the challager. If the champ loses, he has a right to get a rematch. In this case, clottey was the CHALLENGER and cotto was the CHAMP, you rarely, if not ever see a rematch if the challenger loses.
