ok so ive heard alot of guys talking like cotto is now passed his best and starting to decline im a cotto fan i would like to give him the benefit of the doubt due to getting cut early which clearly effected him what do u guys think? honest opinions please...
he's fine.
clottey is an elite fighter.
having the cut and not being able to see DOES affect how one fights you know.
if pacquiao does beat cotto , i expect nothing less than people saying cotto was weight drained and shot.
you wrote da exact same thing I waz thinkin Mr.P
cotto is not past his best or on the decline. he's taking on tougher opponents, that's why he looks so regular. cotto was never invincible and not that good.
i wouldnt say he is not that good to be considered an elite fighter you have to be that good

bullshit. just excuses.
he made 146. he can make 144.
have confidence in your fighter. you guys are already trying to come up with excuses.
well if cotto himself thinks he can make 144 and not be affected he should go for it im sceptical
if they make cotto go down to 144 i will say that, if manny wants to fight cotto this fight need to happen at 147 or it will be BS!!!!:boxing:
yeah i agree also for manny maybe he can beat cotto at 147 who knows but if he beats a weight drained cotto he wont get half as much credit so 147 is a win win i think
i'll tell you why he's not.
since his questionable loss to margarito who has he fought?
michael jennings. it was a confidence booster of a fight and nothing more. he blew the guy out and let him last longer than he needed to. he could have put the guy away early but wanted to give people there moneys worth. he looked like regular old cotto.
against clottey we have the issue of the cut over the eye and he wasn't really able to fight his fight. you didn't get to see how he would perform against serious opposition. they were still in the warm up and feeling out early rounds of the fight so cotto never really got into his rhythm or got a chance to try to learn clottey and build an attack around what he was dealing with. he spent the entire fight trying to preserve his eye and keep it clear of blood while trying to thwart a forever approaching clottey.
so honestly we still have no ability to judge if cotto is still the same dude.
hopefully against pacquiao no cuts occur and it lasts longer than 5 rounds.
then we can determine if cotto is still the man he used to be.
I'm not sure what you just said, but PLS don't get rid of that sig!!!!
Anyway, on the topic, he's gotten better, he was able to make weight for the fight, his face was as bloody as in the Margo fight and he couldn't see those right hands coming, hard to counter with hooks when taking those rights. He looked better imo.
he's fine.

There is nothing to suggest that his skills are regressing at all. He had a rough time with a top Welterweight last weekend and fought for 9 rounds with a bad cut. Cotto is still more or less at his peak.
I don't think he's past it, but everyone needs to decide that now before he fights Pacman. If Pacman wins then everyone is gonna say 'he showed signs of being shot in Clottey match etc'. Choose now people!!
I think he's actually getting better. He didnt bring anything new to the Clottey fight due to him not having a real trainer. If thats what people are basing their statements on theyre in for a suprise (if Cotto gets an experienced trainer for his next fight, which I hope he does)
