Do you think Margarito beat Cotto out of prime?

i mean Cotto looked Okay last night at best. He didn't look like the Cotto that was against Judah, Mosley, and the first 6 rounds of Margarito. The Margarito/Cotto fight could be like Chavez/Taylor that happen almost 15+ years ago. Remember Meldrick Taylor was prime/fast/had good power, and Chavez was the Warrior who let you land a couple Punches to get you with that one punch that could send you to sleep. All im saying is that Cotto looked like some of his prime was taken away from that Margarito fight. He didn't look good, and in all honesty, i think Pacquiao would have beaten him last night. They must have him training wrong or somthing, but they need to get it straight quick because He is going to go in with the Bigger Lions soon, (Even tho Clottey is underrated)) Hopefully he gets it straight and it was just Clottey stylte.

I may be the only person who thinks this but I was reasonably impressed with Cotto. The main reason being that he has normally done enough in the first 9 rounds to win a UD but they were on level terms at the end of round 9 IMO. And he managed to put aside the 'not a 12 round fighter' thing and win the last 3 rounds. It may have not been his best performance that you've ever seen but he was cut early and went the majority of the fight with blood streaming down his face, was up against a very tough fighter and deserved to win. It would be difficult for any prime welterweight (as already said in another post) to beat Clottey and look good doing it. (After that effort from Clottey though, I think he could probably beat some of the big names at WW.)

With so much to talk about today like the Cotto-Clottey PBF injury, JMM's options, and now 4 contenders to fight Pacman you are talking about Margacheato. When you fight Elite level boxers....your not going to just run through a packed solid Division. It's not like he was in there with a Jennings...Joshua Clottey would give anybody fits at 147. Anybody. Margs Pwill Money Pac Cotto Q Zab Mosley Nobody wins an easy UD or K.O/T.K.O against Clottey. IMO Absolutely. The best may beat Clottey, but they won't look that good doing it. He's a difficult fight for any welter.

It's impossible to say because He wasn't in there with somebody he has ever fought before...Styles make fights. He looked game enough to win the fight. It's just you see Miguel not do as good as expected...you have to take into consideration who he was in the ring with. Honestly I don't think he was affected to much by the Margarito Woopin'....Joshua Clottey makes it very hard to look good against him.... If anything Cotto should the heart and will of a true champion last night. Given the Circumstances he was put in early. i agree with the heart part, maybe to me it is the preparation. his punches were wider then they usually are to me. And he was throwing some ugly punches in there. but his heart was still there. His left eye was just about gone, so maybe it was the eye that couldn't see the rights. Well see next fight.

Cotto was never as good as advertised. Explain????? i mean he was undefeated a couple fights ago, beating i think 10 champs/former champs. Went to the body in a dominating way. Got hurt in his fights, but always came back stronger to win. Only one loss. What is there that is advertised that makes him not as good. He even beat Mosley.

I think the problem was Cotto couldn't land as much as he wanted to. Clottey's defense was more tight than usual. I think Cotto should go back to Evangelista or get someone else. This is what i think to. His uncle knows him best, and he didn't look like his game plan was that great.

He's not shot. In all honesty, it was his first legitimate fight since losing to Margarito. Jennings wasn't shit, and Clottey is a great fighter. ya he is a great fighter, very underrated, but still Cotto didn't look like the Pre-Margarito Cotto to me. He looked somewhat scared in a way. I think he should fight Berto for his title and unify. Then after, go after Mosley and Pac. He is still young, and he shouldn't jump into something that could make his career go down.

I think so.... And after last nights fight, and the way Clottey did Cotto.... I dont think Margs used plaster...... i mean Cotto has been known for getting hit and coming back strong. But in the Margarito fight, it seemed as if Margarito was super man that night. His punches were hard as ****. If you watch Cotto fights, he's been hurt a lot in his career, and his Chin is pretty good, because he is able to hold himself up when he does get hurt. But Margaritos pressure must have been to much for him.

I don't think Cotto is passed it. He's still young. He didn't look amazing last night because Clottey is a really good fighter. Clottey just gave the fight away. I had him winning rounds 7-10 easily. I he kept up what he was doing he woulda won the whole rest of the fight, and actually had a reason to complain. But he didn't and Cotto had a ****ed up eye and couldn't see right hands. So hopefully he forgets about pac, rests up and either rematches Clottey or Mosely. i dont think he should fight Pac yet, i think he should fight somebody Like Berto or Rematch Clottey. I think he needs one more fight before he gets back in there, like another confidence match. Not like Jennings tho, like somebody who is pretty good, but not a prize fighter. you know?

Yea I give a lot of credit to Clottey for Cotto looking sub standard from what we've seen from Cotto in the past. To me this fight was supposed to show where Cotto is after the Marg loss but to be honest I still don't know. true, most people didn't know who Clottey was before this fight, now they know.

Clottey is a bad mothafukka. He gets some of the cred for Cotto not lookin strong. Gotta see how Cotto looks in his next fight against a good opponent before I label him as past it. Too early to be sayin that shit imo.
