Will he? I don't doubt he will have a great career, probably surpassing Hatton, but will he ever be as loved by the British people as Hatton?
I think Khan cross over into the US better than Hatton, and will end up with more American fans than Hatton had.
lol yeah i was there i duno why tho
the reason why is becaue they were hatton fans and are typical holigans, which prove the piont even though amir repersents England they dont like him because he aint white!!,And

Well said!!

Pretty much what i was gonna say.
No, simple because he is Asian.
Anyone who disagree's knows deep down their being naive and are in denial.
You only need to look at his last bout against barrera, where he was boo'd silly in the entire stadium.
Dont forget as much as we love watching boxing it is a business at the end of the day if you dont talk you dont get noticed it helps to stand out.
Also if you are contracted to big PPV networks you have to talk even if you dont want to they will make you talk!!

i dont think he will have more fans than hatton. i mean who has? i dont think its anything to do with the colour of his skin, i just think that he used to come across as a right scallywag cocky cunt. also you'll never get a decent ticket to a khan fight because half of pakistan and bolton take up all the decent seats! he has got alot of "relatives"
he will never be as popular as hatton.. does race play a part.. yes and no.
i dont think it hurts anyone that they are not white, ppl like em anyways. but it does help a fighter if he is white. feel me? if a fighter has a great personality and puts on great fights, like nigel benn. he will be liked no matter what race he is. if a fighter has a great personality and puts on decent fights, like hatton. he can still become very popular. khan is a nice kid but ppl are getting sick of his talk, i know i am..
I would say people in the UK generally hate Khan, for whatever reason but I think its mainly the people who don't know much about boxing and this is why they hate Khan. Its true that we dont have many boxing fans over here and I think race definetely does come into it. People have doubted him from the start and I think the people just need someone to hate/ take the piss out of.
khan
The reason hatton is so popular in the UK is because he is white full stop!!
an Amir Khan aint.
When is comes to boxing ricky is just a decent fighter nothing spectacular in my eyes before his fight against F.Mayweather Jnr the only decent boxer he beat was Kostya Tszyu, and the british public dont stop going on about it!!
Everyone else was just numbers in his record
His only a champ in the light welterweight division,he won the welterwieght title once and never boxed at that weight again until F.Mayweather Jnr took him to school.
If he was so great why didnt he not stay in the welterweight division and prove his not just a one division star.
And when he got put in the ring with the REAL greats it showed just how ordinary of a fighter he is.
What i say is get it on Khan v Hatton so all can be put to rest like hattonso called greatness
what ?????? no shot .. no 1 is as popular as riky ,,no fighter will everrr everrrr bring 25,000 ppl 2 vegas agin mark my words ...neverrrr ..i saw wat hatton could do in vegas it was unbelievable those ppl r nuts
No. Take a look at Hatton's fans. For the most part they are a bunch of beer drinking morons, Hatton appealed to them because he is one of them.
Khan is a Muslim, that isolates him from mixing with the drinkers straight away. He also has the fact that he is Asian against him, a lot of british people are racist or at the least prejudice.
A sad truth is the UK doesn't have a lot of boxing fans, just a lot of people who like to get drunk and rowdy.

nope.
why?
because he's not white......
& because he sucks.
The last may or may not be true, but the first isn't. Frank Bruno was extraordinarily popular. Being a HW helps but Frank had nowhere near Amir's raw talent.
It's just personality; Amir comes across as a cocky, arrogant c*nt (if not quite in the Naseem Hamed or David Haye class) and Bruno never did because, amazingly enough, he actually isn't. Hatton came across as confident rather than cocky and arrogant, although he is both. It would be unfair to say Lennox Lewis, who of course was a far better fighter than any of them, didn't have a personality, but he certainly didn't have much of a chat show persona.

i dont think race has a bearing on popularity, Benn eubank hamed were all very popular but with khan people just dont like him that much and use race as a reason.
im not saying rasism is not an issue in sport but the simple fact is its not an issue in this case its easy to blaim it on race but its a mixture of things personality charisma fighting style
to the people who think its a race issue simple question if khan was white in your opinion would he be as popular as hatton?
