Pavlik is at a stage where he can insist on his next opponent. Boxing fans/writers have been clamoring for this fight for a while; especially since Abraham knocked out Miranda last year on Showtime. Abraham was mentioned by Arum more than a month back, but that tune has changed and they are mentioning Mora or Sturm in 09 and Froch at 168 in 10.
I'm on the fence still since things are playing out, but there is no indication Abraham will be next, if at all. If Pavlik moves up without unifying he's a huge duck in my book. Is Pavlik ducking or not yet?
Once again, dont see the Abraham hype, Lujan simon gave him a fight, and people actually think Pavlik is deathly afraid of him, but willing to go to 170 against Bernard Hopkins. :ugh:
Pavlik could be more vocal about wanting to fight AA but he hasnt be, Its a shame because AA only stucked around at 160 because he wanted the pavlik fight so bad, I dont care for the "Arum doesnt want the fight" excuses but he seem to want AA to disappear by moving up so the fight cannot be made, With the way Pavlik's career is going now he could have restored his credibility if he had fought and beat AA but i cant see it happening now...shame
Yes because everyone's been waiting almost 2 years for this to happen already. Both of them have been the only names with belts in they're division for pretty much the past 2 years. Why did we just waste 2 years waiting for Abraham/Pavlik at Middleweight? There was no reason for this fight not to happen. Now everyone just forgets about just like that. Just because Arum through out some BS about possibly a more exciting fight that can wait. It's pretty obvious that Top Rank does'nt want any part of Abraham. How much more blatant can it be?
Pavliks a pussy he don't want to fight Abraham. Bob Arum should get a licken for this. I can't believe they just kept Abraham just hangin like this. Seriously Abraham's gotta have close to 10 defences of the IBF belt already.
listen to homie.........he knows whats up.......green k my dude :fing02:
I was tryin to give him a pass on this shit. But Pavlik's cred is slippin. If he's gonna fight Sturm fine. But AA better be next, even if it means a move up.
If the division is shit and the 2 top fighters are far away the best than the fight should be a no brainer. It's not everyday where there's a fight that can unify 3 belts. Abraham's claim for #1 is as strong or almost as strong as Cotto's was to Mayweather when he was the Ring champ.
Abraham is severely struggling to make weight (which explains his last performance), but he wants the Pavlik fight at 160 for all the marbles instead of 168 for nothing, can you blame him?
I think Pavlik is avoiding Abraham too, and it's as clear as day. But you can't tell me that Abraham can't fight someone like Paul Williams or Vernon Forrest. If he doesn't get an impressive victory on his resume, Arum is gonna use that as a reason not to make the fight. I know Abraham destroyed Miranda impressively, but that victory is getting less and less meaningful, especially after he got his ears boxed off by Ward. I think Pavlik should be held to that same standard of fighting top opponents too. But being the recognized #1 in the division gives him more leverage to pick and choose his fights. I will continue to not have any respect for Pavlik if he does that. But it is what it is.
I realize the Middleweight division is shit right now. But even so, why don't Pavlik and Abraham just move up to 168. It's gotten to the point of where both of these guys have avoided each other for so long that I'm not even interested in the fight anymore. Abraham looked like shit in his last fight against a C-level opponent and that may have to do with weight troubles possibly. I don't want any weight drain excuses when these two guys go at it. Of course Arum isn't helping that situation by mentioning every other opponent besides Abraham. I heard Vernon Forrest was interested in fighting Abraham. That fight will help gain Abraham's recognition with the U.S. audience.

It sounds like you don't know much of the history, Sturm was asking for money that wasn't there to fight Abraham (some 3 million euros). It became public that AA's team asked Arum what they could do to get a fight with Pavlik and he said build his profile in the US.
That sounds like something people would kill Mayweather for.

The blame needs to fall on both guys' shoulders if you want my opinion. Arum seems afraid to put Pavlik in with Abraham, but that doesn't change the fact that Abraham keeps fighting shit opposition. Sometimes to get a big fight you've got to really look around. In fact, even if these guys don't fight each other, I'm sure that someone like Paul Williams or one of the top 168 lbers would be willing to take them on. And yet they seem content to keep fighting the Locketts, Rubios, Moras, Duddys, Orals, Simons, and Ikekes of the world. I actually have to give Pavlik a little bit of credit for expressing interest in fighting Froch. But doing and saying is two different things.

Just like Arum was afraid to put Cotto and Tony in with Mayweather..right??
I mean you can't have it both ways.
What are you trying to say? I alluded to the fact that neither Abraham or Pavlik are stepping up to the plate and I don't think I could be any further from the truth.
You're such a f*ggoty ass hypocrite.
You ride Floyd's ass DAYLY about what he's not doing and who he's not fighting...but you pull excuses from your gaping asshole for Pavlik's bum fighting, ducking ass.
Why love and excuses for Pavlik but nothing but hate for Floyd?
Hmmm
Oh that's right.
Can you read dumbass?
To be more accurate, Bob Arum is has been ducking Abraham.
Like I told the poster above:
Arum has to talk to Pavlik's manager and the manager always talks to their fighter before, during, and after a negotiation or offer. A fighter (especially one in Pavlik's position) 99% signs off on anything having to do with their career.
Kelly has been unified middleweight champ for a couple years now, Arum does not have the final say on Pavlik's fights. All Arum can do is set down his options. HBO would probably pay more for an Abraham fight than any other.

no his promother might be ..ppl always blame the fighter ..the fighter usually has no say in who they fight ..unless ther a fighter like mayweather who has all the say in who he fights
See that's where you're wrong. Pavlik and his team have a lot of say in what should happen and who they are fighting next. Arum has to talk to Pavlik's manager and the manager always talks to their fighter before, during, and after a negotiation or offer. A fighter (especially one in Pavlik's position) 99% signs off on anything having to do with their career.
