Erik? We are talking about Barrera, McCullough, Ayala, Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Junior Jones, InJin Chi, Manny Pacquiao, Daniel Zaragosa and Kevin Kelley here... Pretty Fookin Solid names right there........
Even more solid than Mayweather Jr IMHO........Whats your take?
i always thought that Morales is the most underated fighter the last 30 years..not one of.. but THE most underated..which is crazy considering how much props the man gets..Prime Morales was actually THAT great
He really never lost a fight other than Barrera (who was just a bad style matchup for him regardless of time in careers IMO... the super shot Barrera might still beat him at this point), until he ran into Raheem, and by the point, he was getting pretty past it.
However, I will say that he never ran into a super defensive slick dude like Mayweather, who would have eaten him alive in the ring.
It really probably would have looked like Guzman-Soto, except both guys would be a much better version of those two.
I was sure he would fight Cotto before he retired last time, and I was wrong. He just doesn't seem too interested in taking the fights that need to happen, which is why I decided that I was done supporting him.
The moment that I decided to send him packing from my favorites was after Hatton, when he signed for a De La Hoya rematch... I mean, really, that fight is pointless and shows that he cares about money and not boxing or his legacy.
That's a fairly lame stance from a boxer in my opinion.
I feel you. Maybe that's why he canceled it. It wudda been a pointless fight.
He probably said let me sit back and wait for another cash cow to step up
You wanna fight?:chairshot
I'm sure he'll fight Pacquiao/Cotto before hangin em up. Which will help his resume...

Floyd beat Chavez and Hernandez as well. Along with Corrales and Castillo. Its close as far as names but then u factor in Floyd moving up 5 weightclasses and winning titles and he takes the cake. And Floyd's still fighting...
Well... kind of...

castillo and corrales are better wins than barrera???in what universe, lol.........
if anything hurts morales is the fact that he lost twice to pac and barrera(even though he was in the slide at 130) and how he lost all his last few fights.......
if pacquiao outpoints mayweather, mayweather's rep is gonna take a huge hit.....
Yeah, it would probably move him below Morales in terms of resume, because he does depend on that 0 to make him great.
And idk man, considering how one-sided Castillo and Corrales fights were for Mayweather (the second Castillo one at least), and how much of a beast those dudes were at the weights Mayweather fought them does give me some wiggle room to rank those above his really close win over Barrera (at 122 or 126 depending if you are talking about officially or the way it should have been scored).
Guty Espadas Jr. is another former champion to add to that list.
I do think Morales has a solid resume, but I am inclined to go with Mayweather's resume over it at this point.
The best win of both resumes is Pacquiao I for Morales. Unfortunately, he lost twice after that.
The next best wins are Corrales, Castillo and Castillo.
Then probably Barrera for Morales, but... once again, he lost twice after that.
Hatton probably comes next.
I don't really know after that. But the top is definitely heavy with Mayweather's wins.

Mr boat buyer's res is lackin at 147. I give him a pass at 140 since Cotto and Hatton weren't ready then. Beyond that, his res is damn good at 130-135. EM's is fukkin sick too.
PBF got the scalps of genaro, oscar, chico, JLC, hatton, judah, gatti & baldomir...
i think their resumes are pretty even...
what will ultimately make him higher than erik would be his undefeated record, his longer dominance @ a single weight & his better successes in weight scaling...
just my 2 cents...
