I heard in Dan Rafael's notebook that this rematch is likely gonna happen in November. There is a slight possibility it may happen in September. But if not, it will have to be in November. It baffles me as to why it can't take place sooner than that. Is HBO's schedule stretched so thin that they can't pitch this fight to an earlier date? This makes me think that Gary Shaw is trying to get Chad any advantage he can use and wait until Johnson grows even older.
The actual article I read had nothing to do with the negotiations of this rematch. It was actually about how HBO's boxing budget is on empty. It alluded to the Dawson-Tarver rematch contributing to that. And I suspect HBO's tight budget is why the Glen-Chad rematch is probably gonna take place in November because of dried up TV dates.
I don't see why the fight can't be in September despite HBO's so called "tight budget". Another 6 month wait for Dawson is just fu***ing stupid, he waited 8 months to fight Tarver again. Dawson should be fighting 3 times every year. HBO should understand that.

I blame Gary Shaw for that, and the f**ing IBF. Shaw knew that Dawson had to fight Tavoris Cloud sooner or later, but instead ignored IBF rules stating that "Tavoris Cloud is so much of a nobody Dawson can simply ignore him". And I blame the IBF for allowing the Dawson-Tarver II rematch to happen.
What makes you think it's dawson specifically? Did Kim allude to that?

Where have you heard about this rematch being in September specifically? I heard that is a possibility, but it is likely going down in November. And where did you get September 12 from? I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to know where you got it at? I view Chad Dawson as a good fighter, even though I'm an admitted detractor. Most of his fans are objective. But the ones that try to make it like he's the second coming of Jesus Christ is what gets on my nerves. My disdain for him personally comes from the raw deal that Glen Johnson got in the aftermath of that fight along with those smug comments that Dawson made to Karen Bryant. Johnson also got screwed out of a decent payday with Adamek. That fight would have probably brought more money than a Chad rematch. But that's not Chad's fault that the networks turned it down.
If the fight goes down in November I would be very disappointed, that would give Dawson 6 months to prepare, that is ridiculously long. But than again Dawson took 7 months to prepare for Glen Johnson in their first meeting. It should take a championship caliber boxer 15-19 weeks to prepare for a fight, not 6 months. September 12 is just an estimate if the fight does go down on September, and it would be on a Saturday.
Reading Steve Kim's article about HBO's tight budget makes me understand why this fight may not happen right away and that's understandable. But what's taking Dawson so long to sign the contract?

What contract?
Dawson is definitely good, his wins over Eric Harding, Tomasz Adamek, Glen Johnson, and Antonio Tarver X2, prove that. And this fight should be in September 12, HBO knows better.

I think Dawson lacks the confidence to beat Johnson a second time. I really do. He knows it's over for him on the big stage if he loses to a 41 year-old journeyman who is a shitload better than his record would suggest. HBO will realize that he is not as good as they thought he was.

Those who attribute this to a Dawsonian conspiracy will be singing a different tune when you see the two of them in the ring together and realize that the difference in two months (especially when these guys havent even started training!) is absolutely irrelevant.

Oh and Icetea provide the link where it says the fight will most likely be in November. Dawson really needs to switch promoters, I say he should sign with Dan Goosen because Gary Shaw is an ***hole.
I read it in Dan Rafael's (who I don't like) weekend notebook on ESPN. I heard September was a possibility and I mentioned this earlier at the beginning of my thread. But the piece of news said more than likely November. And to be fair to Chad, HBO probably is on a tight budget. But even so, you would think that they could squeeze this fight in sooner than that ffs. The longer this fight takes to happen the more ring rust that Johnson is likely to deal with, and the guy is already or getting ready to be 41 years old if I'm not mistaken. Now I'm not using a ready-made excuse for Johnson if Dawson happens to beat him. But don't the Chad supporters want him to get all the credit he can possibly get if he happens to win? And yeah, Gary Shaw is a piece of shit.

I'm still picking Johnson to win this fight, because he is just a better fighter than Chad. I don't know why the people who think Chad won that fight don't just watch it again and pay attention to who landed the flusher punches. I've mentioned this before, but HBO would have showed the total punch count unlike Showtime. A lot of Dawson's punches were being deflected off the gloves, and it seems like Johnson couldn't miss the straight right hand especially when it got down to the later rounds when Chad was more fatigued.
Want to bet on that?
Also the time gap between September and November isn't enough for Johnson to look like an old man. I could see this fight happening in November only because this is how championship fights are nowadays, fights will take 5-6 months.

BS, I doubt Dawson is scared of Johnson and I doubt Dawson isn't confident enough that he can beat him again. It has more to do with HBO's schedule, there is no sense in the fight being in November because that's WAY too long of a wait. The fight will be in September because Dawson needs to be more busy.
And I'm wondering what's taking so long to get the rematch signed and delivered. I'll believe Chad has manned up when I see it. I also think the money split in this fight should be close to even because of the first fight being competitive regardless of who won, and Dawson's lack of a fan base.
I mean Dawson has to beat Johnson more convincingly this time, right? Does anyone think Johnson can win though, cause if it's close you know the decision is going to Dawson.
