MANILA, Philippines – Shane Mosley is willing to stake his WBA welterweight crown if he gets to face Manny Pacquiao even at a catch weight of 144 lb.
“I’ll meet him halfway so we can make the fight,” said Mosley in an exclusive interview aired by NBN-4 sports program Teledyaryo yesterday.
Mosley, the champion at 147 lb, said he’s willing to go down in weight, face Pacquiao on Oct. 17, and stake his crown just to see “who’s the best.”
Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, said they’re willing to face Mosley if the latter would agree to go down to 142 lb. Then Mosley said “halfway” could mean 144 lb.
“I can possibly make the weight and feel comfortable. I want to explore that,” said Mosley.
Snow Badua of Teledyaryo asked Mosley if he’d be willing to stake his WBA crown against Pacquiao, and the 37-year-old, 5-foot-9 champion said, “Yeah, definitely.”
Mosley also said the purse split shouldn’t be a problem, even if Pacquiao, now the pound-for-pound king, gets more.......

If Mosley lands flush....Pacs chin has never been tested above 135 tbh....and Mosley hits harrrrdddd. Could be an interesting fight.
yep, mosley KOed mayorga who was 175 lbs on fight night. pac really has no business being in the ring with someone as big as mosley.
144 is fair,
not really considering pac was 142 lbs against dlh and 138 lbs against hatton.
Mosley is getting on a bit now, 142 would damn near kill him imo
good point, so mosley should quit pac and try and make a fight against berto or cotto.
do you know Mosley going down to 142 he will lose muscle not fat
still wont change the fact that one fighter will be at his best while the other wont
good point, so mosley should stop chasing waterfalls and forget about a fight w/ pac.
besides mosley is a middleweight on fight night and pac is welterweight. that's not even a fair fight.
Judging by the article, Mosley seems very confident that at any weight he can beat Pacquiao.
if mosley is a middleweight on fight night and pac is a welterweight on fight night definitely mosley will beat pac.
Me personally, if they do fight I'd like to see it at the catch weight of 144. I think that's a good weight for both of them.
its not a great weight for pac. pac only officially weighed 142 lbs against dlh.
142 is just to much in favor of Pacquiao.
well 142 lbs is pac's official weight against dlh and pac went down as far as 138 lbs against hatton. I think 144 is a big favor for mosley.
I don't care what Mosley says. Anything under 144 and he's going to be out of gas.
that's probably true, so mosley should make fights against proper welterweights instead of picking on pac.

Mosley at 142 is a dead man walking shame on Pac only one fighter would be at there best and guest who it is
did you know mosley is a middleweight on fight night and pac is a welterweight on fight night?
Man let the man fight if he wants to make more money fighting Pac shit man good for him he aint gonna get that kind of money fighting no one else unless is Floyd and right about now that fight seems far fetch so why not i think it will be interesting so lets sit around and see what happens!!!!!
Mosley is looking like an idiot right now......
Everyone knows he just wants the money..... He is making himself look needy....
Have some f*ckin pride man....
To me he looks like a stripper who is just going around talking to every guy ust trying to get them to give money.....
He just seems so f*ckin desperate.... Its pathetic...
actually he's just matching cotto's offer of 144 lbs. so if mosley is a pathetic stripper then so is cotto.
I think mosley should forget about pac and try and get cotto in the ring or beat up berto.
that said, mosley has nothing to lose against pac... he'll get a pay day and an automatic excuse (he was weight drained). actually he does lose a fight w/ pbf if he loses to pac tho. so best bet is to fight berto.
I actually think this a ballsy thing to do on Shane's part. I'm all for a fight with him and Paul Williams because that fight would crown a Ring champ at 147. Ring has the intention to automatically rank Williams at #2 if he schedules another fight at Welterweight. That fight to me is a toss up fight because Williams may be in the same position that Shane will be if Shane decides to fight Pacquiao in regards to the possibility of being weight drained. And the sad thing is if Mosley beat Williams at that weight people would discredit Mosley for beating a guy that is dehydrating himself. But here, if he beat Manny, a lot of people like myself would view it as a good accomplishment if he does it at a catch weight. My personal preference is to either see a rematch between Mosley and Cotto or a fight between Williams and Mosley. I think these catchweight fights are bullshit regardless of what kind of odds Shane is trying to defy here. And Manny needs to fight guys at their healthy weight. 140 is a deep division. To me if Manny doesn't fight at least one of these 5 guys his legacy should take a hit: Victor Ortiz, Nate Campell, Devon Alexander, Mike Alvarado, or Timothy Bradley. I think Bradley is the most beatable out of those 5.
