Or we won't know what he has to offer. His most formidable opponent on the way to the title was Michel Trabant (You could say Roberto Valenzuela, but only because he has more fights). In short, this guy has not been tested yet. Collazo has been his toughest defense.
I am not saying Berto isn't good, just that we don't know how good until tested.
worst ww belt holder
yep... if berto is gonna fight w/ that lazy ugly clinching style, he might as well give roger his boxing equipment so roger can pour gasoline on it and throw it in the garbage can.
so you guys are again going to just ignore the fact that his team tried hard to make a fight with both Mosley & Cotto before the Urango fight and got turned down. How can you blame him for this? I bet anything that he's going to try again right now to get at them
Collazo is a good win, Uragno is a one dimensional under-sized opponent.
Even in coming up in weight, Urango looked bigger than Berto....too slow and wide though
He needs a big fight or a Collazo rematch next or serious questions will be asked and his reputation will sour
I rate the guy, defo more than most on here and i quite like him too but he is a champion and needs to up the ante, saying that Joe Calslappy got away with it for years!
yeah its a bit silly imo - i do think hes a slightly premature title holder but i dont think anyone in his camp or anyone around him over rates his talents.
hes a good fighter and all that but imo clottey, cotto and SSM would KO him, fighters like judah and collazo are capable of buzzing him.
i do think hes being devleoped very well though - alot like cotto. the steady improvement in competition has shown and developed his abilities, forbes, collazo then urango.
imo he is running out of fringe contenders to face and sooner or later he will have to face the three main men in the division. he might take a fight with someone like paulie, judah but ultimately i think he will end up facing the lose of the clottey/cotto bout and i think he wil be TKO'd
I reckon he could nick a win against Clottey. His handspeed is ridiculous and against Urango he showed he can frustrate and avoid taking too much damage
Collazo is a good win, Uragno is a one dimensional under-sized opponent.
I don't think size was a factor really. Urango clearly held the power advantage regardless
Yeah he's one dimensional and not quite a top level opponent, but you need wins like this on the resume. You can't be fighting A class fighters every time, and Urango is a perfectly good resume building name for a up-n-comer like Berto

Collazo and Urango are decent wins for the moment (although the mannor of the Collazo win wasn't very promising)
The problem is he's found himself prematurely a belt holder, and is slowing the traffic down by not really being ready for the type of opposition a title holder should be facing
It's a bit of a predicament because it would probably get a lot of bad press to drop the belt and continue fighting a standard of opposition suitable to where he's at right now; but he's getting bad press as it is for not fighting on the level you'd expect a world champion to
