I'm not a Floyd hater. Matter of fact, I'm a fan of Floyd. At the same time, I keep it 100% real - no bias.
He started his pro career at 130...
Honestly, I think the size thing is way overblown. Mayweather has always been a smallish welter. If Floyd wasn't paper chasin so hard he'd be fighting at 140.
floyds weights
Super Featherweight
Lightweight
Junior Welterweight
Welterweight
Super welterweight
had his amature fights even lower ,
he beat Genaro Hernandez for the SFW Title
Actually, he started at 106lbs, just like Pacquiao.
The only difference is that Manny went pro at 16, due to a need for money. Where Floyd went into the amateurs to learn his craft and get experience.
Within a year of fighting at 106, both Manny and Floyd lept up in weight to 113-114.
Within 2 years, they both jumped up in weight once again to 122.
Eventually leading Manny to his first real "fit" at 122, and Floyd, making his debut at super Featherweight, then going on to 130.
Meant to say Lightweight, not Super Featherweight.
Anyway, you get the idea.
when manny was 29 he was a super featherweight, when mayweather was 29 he was a welterweight.
What does this matter?
They both started at the same weight, at the same age, and dominated multiple weight classes on their way up. With Manny having the edge by 1 Weightclass.
